Car jerks during start

To whoever is facing this, my suggestion don’t shift directly from Drive to Park

Instead, after stopping, shift to Neutral, let the car settle by removing ur foot off the brake, then engage E brake. And finally shift to Park, then switch off

It’s almost impossible for it to jump forward if you follow this sequence. Because the gear is disengaged when the car starts.

And when u start the car, once its warmed up and ready to move, push the brakes, shift to neutral, disengage E brake, then move to drive. That way ur not damaging ur Park pin.

^ This is actually good and on point. However, me, myself and I usually skip the neutral step but try to always treat the e-brake as if it was a battery cable (first on last off type of thing)

I would completely concur with this. Avoid putting any unnecessary tension to the transmission when parking. I would even add that if you're parking on an incline, pull the e-brake, put the car in neutral so it settles, and then put it in Park.

No matter what vehicle I'm driving, I engage the parking brake before moving the gear selector from D (or R if I backed in) to Park, then I release the brake pedal. Even on flat ground. Been doing this for decades.

Its like as soon as u startup its like a jolt felt

i got it checked from technician at ford dealership
he said its a pressure built up

Old tread but wanted to see if there were any updates on diagnosing this issue. I experience too after every start up. It's not a hard jerk, but it definitely makes a slight move forward before the brake catches.
