I might have found a very important setting for some people who are interested.
We all knew that the USB port, especially the one that we use behind the rear view mirror for the dashcam stays on for longer than 1 hour.
Some said 1 hour, some said 1 hour and 20 minutes and some said 1.5 hours.
I was interested in a dashcam, but the fact that it will stay on for 1.5 hours after the ignition is off, is not something I would like for my car battery.
A dashcam would be only installed in my car if I can lower the timer, and I think I found the setting to lower or higher the timer.
I came across this setting because today I took the time to compare the EU Mustang with the NA Mustang, 1 by 1, and I'm still not finished yet.
I'm creating a spreadsheet with all the differences and this is also a difference.
The European Mustang has the timer set for 30 minutes while my Canadian Mustang is set to 1 hour and 15 minutes.
This is how you can change it:
BCM 726-57-01: **** xxxx xx--
30 minutes = 0708
1 hour and 15 minutes = 1194
Here is the calculation for both numbers:
Hexadecimal 1194 to decimal:
119416=(1Ă—163)+(1Ă—162)+(9Ă—161)+(4Ă—160)1194_{16} = (1 \times 16^3) + (1 \times 16^2) + (9 \times 16^1) + (4 \times 16^0)119416=(1Ă—163)+(1Ă—162)+(9Ă—161)+(4Ă—160) =(1Ă—4096)+(1Ă—256)+(9Ă—16)+(4Ă—1)= (1 \times 4096) + (1 \times 256) + (9 \times 16) + (4 \times 1)=(1Ă—4096)+(1Ă—256)+(9Ă—16)+(4Ă—1) =4096+256+144+4= 4096 + 256 + 144 + 4=4096+256+144+4 =4500= 4500=4500
Hex 1194 = Decimal 4500
4500 seconds = 75 minutes = 1 hour and 15 minutes
hexadecimal 0708 to decimal.
070816=(0Ă—163)+(7Ă—162)+(0Ă—161)+(8Ă—160)0708_{16} = (0 \times 16^3) + (7 \times 16^2) + (0 \times 16^1) + (8 \times 16^0)070816=(0Ă—163)+(7Ă—162)+(0Ă—161)+(8Ă—160) =(0)+(7Ă—256)+(0)+(8Ă—1)= (0) + (7 \times 256) + (0) + (8 \times 1)=(0)+(7Ă—256)+(0)+(8Ă—1) =0+1792+0+8= 0 + 1792 + 0 + 8=0+1792+0+8 =1800= 1800=1800
Hex 0708 = Decimal 1800
1800 seconds = 30 minutes
So again:
If you want to change the timer to 30 minutes, use 0708
If you want to change the timer to 75 minutes, use 1194
If you want to change the timer to some other length, use this calculation: Seconds = Hex2Dec(****)
This is the Max Range: 1 - 64800
The Australian ALM5.0 guy did a real life test in his Mustang and it turned off at 1 hour and 19 minutes (real life timer).
