And that won't run 9's

What will?

https://www.hotrod.com/news/evolution-performance-2024-mustang-record/

All told, the 2024 Mustang development car laid down 1,045 rear-wheel hp and 719 lb-ft of rear-wheel torque on the company’s in-house hub dyno

so they need more HP than the vette

And they can't even do it on pump gas like the corvette

A new E30 blend of ethanol/gasoline allows them to run higher ignition timing and boost without fear of detonation. The E30 blends Sunoco’s 260 GT Unleaded race fuel with 30-percent ethanol. A VMP Performance Fuel Pump Voltage Booster box increases fuel pump output to keep up with the engine’s demands.

Oh and what else it has a built transmission because the stock 10R80 couldn't do the job

entire suspensions and wheels and tires have been replaced

an easy $50k in mod plus the car

but you're right

The corvette isn't impressive
It's not that impressive, sorry.

A stock GT with a Whipple runs 10.3.

The cost of that is in the high $50s.

It's not just me. It's seems a lot are disappointed everywhere you read about these Corvette numbers on the Internet.

Also, that Corvette had the ztk performance package, so not regular tires. And more than the starting MSRP.

Okay buddy.

someone would have to be a fool to be "disappointed"

It's faster than Porsche, McLaren, Lamborghini which all cost more.

is there a production gasoline car that's faster, stock?

you could probably ls swap a fox body for 25k that would beat your $60k s650 whipple car (which is slower than a s550 with the same mods since you can actually tune it...)

It did have the ztk package which comes with cup 2’s, it is a sticky tire but it’s not a drag slick like the demon 170 or the mustangs you are referencing running 9’s and low 10’s. The math alone says the new vette is capable of 8’s give its weight and HP stock and even a car that doesn’t have the ztk package will run the same time as one with it on slicks and skinnies. It’s a very very fast sports car that will be mass produced in numbers that cars it competes with won’t be and those cars cost 5x+ more. It is impressive simply from that standpoint alone. You are talking Bugatti, koenigsegg, Ferrari sp90, and pagani performance for a fraction of the price. It’s never been done, and it’s never been done in America.

The more I see/read the more I want one.

But y’all should go over to the vet forums, it’s 100K adm just to get your name seriously on the list…

These might cost more the. GTDs in the long run.
I keep seeing posts like, you can walk in to a dealership and order and wait and get your ZR1.
That is just NOT the case.

Meh. Vette’s are pretty boring to me. And this one still doesn’t move the needle for me. Congrats to them I guess

A gt500 Code Red can run 1/4 mile at 8.5 seconds. No mid engine, not light weight, just powerful. Weighs 4200 pounds.

So when I see the numbers from a Corvette that weighs 3600 or so, that makes over 1000hp, with special packages, that will end up costing 300k-400k, yeah I'm disappointed with a 9.6 1/4 time.

They built like 30 code reds and they’re not street legal.

And iirc it was almost 200K… for the package, you had to supply them a GT500 Also.. making it far more expensive.

I don’t think a custom hand built fathouse fab car is really part of the conversation, same category as Nth moto or Calvo vipers

code red is $225k plus you need your GT500

so it costs more

doesn't do it on 93. Warranty? Emissions?

They only make 10 per model year and you can't even get one

any more bad comparisons?

you could have a C8 modified to run 9's for $100k, but again this isn't the point...

Code red is a specialty car built by Shelby not ford. I’m sure Lingenfelter will do the same eventually and it’s going to be faster than the stock one.

Official price released today and it’s 175K msrp. Freaking steal of the century for that kind of performance. In 1993 they were 65k which is equivalent to about 140k today and this new car plays with and beats car in segments that the ‘93 car didn’t.

I was for sure it was going to be 200-220k and I’m sure you can options that high but 1064hp 233mph car for 175k is just an insane value. Out of my price range a little but considering what you had to spend 5 month ago to get that kind of performance this car is an incredible value!

The vette has ridiculous power. OF COURSE traction is an issue at that level. It was on street tires. On a prepped track with proper tires, the thing will likely be in the 8s.

the zr1 is hurting feelings already and it’s not even out. Never been a vette fan, but have to keep it real. GM knocked it out of the park. Wow.

the Gtd is a home run. But the zr1 is a grand slam.
