Oh it’s happened before. And most likely it will happen again. But as insanely great as the ZR1 is it will always be just a Chevy. Top speed and track times are great, but which car would you rather pull in front of a Ritz Carlton with. And yes that matters.

Hard to argue with the appeal but in the end it’s just a ‘ferrari’, nothing special and everything expected. The latest and greatest will come and go but history is forever.

honestly I’m no fan of that particular Ferrari. Out of the two, the corvette looks like the more modern, better looking car. The Ferrari does look more exotic in a “it looks unusual/weird sense, but not in an attractive way such as other Ferraris, lambo, etc.

so it depends on WHICH Ferrari or Lamborghini and if I actually paid full price.

It’s true that more folks will think you’re a cool person for owning a Ferrari. But those in the know will give you more respect for driving a nuclear missile around.

it all depends on whose respect you’re looking for:

a. The Tom dick and harry losibg their money at the casino across the street.

b. The knowing businessman who knows what your car can do - and the fact that you paid way less for much more. Better investment.

c. The chick who is looking for validation by cozying up to some poor schmuck with a Ferrari and possibly attaching itself to you like a parasite so hee disapproving parents and friends will think she achieved something

d. The lady that is interested in YOU and uses your zr1 as an ice breaker to get her foot in the door just to get close.

E. The other Ferrari owner who knows not to test you on the nearby freeway.

F. The kids who just see “exotic car” no matter which one.

honestly, in those scenarios, I’d take the zr1 at the ritz Carlton. For one, I’d still be able to afford the ritz Carlton comfortably after paying the car bill. And I’d avoid some of the fake respect given out as a platitude with no real meaning. They might welcome you a little better than otherwise, but I can’t count how many times I’ve heard people taunt Ferrari owners behind their back bevause the owner was too old, wimpy, ugly, dressed bad, had an unattractive spouse, etc. after the initial greet. It’s rough. Better to stick with what’s real.

for those reasons, I’d much rather show up in the zr1 (which is not an inexpensive car), looking great, have people give me normal but honest respect, make real connection with folks based on real things that matter, meet an honest girl who I think is hot and it’s reciprocated, share knowing nods with people who know what’s under the hood, and enjoy the quiet confidence of knowing you’ve got the fastest car there, while having plenty of money leftover to treat the nice girl you’ve just met to hee dream of a first date.

zr1 for me. And I would prefer an American car as well. I think cars like this inspire other American companies to do better. No one would have imagined this car would reach so high a year ago.

I see “cool old car.”

most young people will too.

the Ford GT looks leagues better too. Even the new and old Ford GT looks leagues better.

I think there’s something to. Car being grrat FOR ITS TIME. there’s no denying that was a fantastic appeal to aesthetics in its day. But today it looks kind of silly. Like a frog thst was unfortunately stepped on.

also nostalgia is a strange filter to use when viewing modern day products. It’s great as a reference for “the feels” but not as a direct comparison.

I literally picked a picture at random. It could be any Ferrari, any Lambo, any Aston, or McLaren. None of the owners in these cars are quaking in their boots because a Chevy has a higher top speed or can run a few racetracks at higher speeds. Yes, it might bother a few but they will just buy a ZR1 and add it to their stable. The other will just turn their dignified noses up at the cheap American plastic car.

so it depends on WHICH Ferrari or Lamborghini and if I actually paid full price.
This is only a line that can be said by someone who cannot afford one of these cars. In most cases you have to be vetted to buy one and then you get on a waiting list. Price is no zero importance. I certainly am not one of those people but I know many that are.

Of course you would. I totally get it. But, again, you are not in the position to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on multiple cars. If you were you would understand why I'm saying these things.

Me ZR1 I’d fly my flag before another if they were pretty much an equal match.

That car wasn’t a road car and the few they built to for the road to get it in the race were 289 cars.

I gotta soft spot for the 250GTO and 250SWB cars. Best looking cars they ever built lol

I know you're just being facetious (either that or you know nothing about cars). And name me any Corvette that has the history of this car. But again I just picked this one as a relevant picture (although this is one of my all time favorite automobiles.

if I could afford the Ferrari I’d own them both. Easy peasy! 🤭👍

LOL

Driving a Ferrari hardly makes one “dignified.”

I see literally around 20-30 Ferrari/lambo/porsche/astin/maserati, etc. per day where I live. Most of the people driving I wouldn’t trust to housesit for me.

maybe from your generation “dignified” folks driver these cars.
In my generation, everyone from doctors to business owners to drug dealers to oil tycoon children to kids who received a healthy inheritance, to thieves, to people whose nd where I live, whole life goes into their car.

and where I live at least, no one thinks anything special about the drivers of exotics cars. They just appreciate seeing one.

and how embarassing to get whooped by a “cheap (lol) plastic corvette.”

the zr1 is an exotic masterpiece. It looks great, beats the snot out of the foreign cars, and will be a great source of pride for its owners. I foresee many a Ferrari backing down from a challenge. And rather than turning up a “dignified” nose like a dweeb,, they’ll be plugging their noses to stem the odor of the poop they just let loose in their pants after the zr1 next to them revved a little too loud.

I can only dream about the day I can write the same words about a factory Ford Mustang. Thought the GTD would be the one. But we’ll hope for another day.

not gonna knock it. To each their own.
I do think the generations we grow up in greatly affect what we find attractive, compelling, etc.
