My GT Premium, Vert, PP, AE, manual which is 2 weeks old tomorrow has an issue with the windshield shuttering, vibrating or rattling at 79mph to the point I immediately slow down. Ford has been responsive but I need the dealer to diagnose the issue.

I am wondering if this is a common issue and any example of what repairs were done. Only with the top down. Thanks!

I hope is something as simple as a wheel that needs balance. When the top is down the car is expected to behave marginally different in its structural capacity to dynamic vibrations.

It doesn’t sound normal. I’ve never had that issue. I have seen a few posts here with people saying they’ve had that or something very similar happen.

Smooth and quiet until 78 but really

I agree, hope an easy adjustment. Ford felt the dealer would figure it out

I never had an issue like that with my 2018 or my 2024 EcoBoost Premium Convertibles. Traveling on an interstate a couple of days ago, I let myself get caught up in a train of cars passing a caravan of tractor trailers, trying to get past them before one pulled out to pass another and slowed everyone down to 10 below the speed limit. When I looked down at the speedometer I found I was at 94 mph. No issues with vibration or anything being amiss. I have 8100 miles on the car, so it is broken in, and no issues.

Drew has this information already. DM with him last week. Started on way home from dealer exactly two weeks ago. Experienced it three times and 1k miles on it now. Dealer appointment on Wednesday. Thank you.

Following, I have the same issue with my automatic GT vert with the roof down on the highway. In Canada at the equivalent of 72 mph, windshield frame starts shaking to the point I have to slow down. If I brace my hand against it, it lessens a bit, I came feel it shaking and I am afraid the w/s will crack. Installed a Love the Drive wind deflector recently, but made no difference.

Maybe something(drive shaft, axle, wheels) might slightly be out of balance that it does not impact with top up which offers windshield stability but top down then no top stability?

Sounds scary, had my S650 convertible for 14 months now, never had an issue at speed except for seeing the fabric top fluttering a bit in the rearview mirror.
