Wife's new 7g convertible top is rather tough to latch. Any adjustment ideas?

make sure roof is fully in place as far forward as it will go. I leave the button on a half second longer to make sure. then pull down with a good amount of force while turning the latch. mine was very difficult when new but has gradually gotten easier. maybe there is a break-in period but it is noticeably easier now than it was.

Hi there! I can look into your mustang's latch concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your mustang's VIN?

I have gotten into the habit of pushing the button again after the top stops moving before grabbing the handle and pulling it down. I am guessing the lawyers told the engineers to make it operate that way to keep people from getting their fingers pinched if it closes tightly on the first try.

Had a similar issue and was asked if I garage it with the top down, which I normally do. Leaving it parked for several days with the top up allowed the fabric to stretch into place. Now it closes completely. Just need to remember to park with the top up every now and then.

Parking in direct sun on a few hot days should do the trick.

@jf7926 ..... lots of good advice here. Have owned six convertibles including two Mustangs 2014 and 2024. Never leave the top down if wet or even damp. Don't even leave it down for an extended period. If yoy do and it doesn't want to at least make contact with the rubber seal of the windshield then leave it in the hot sun for a few hours then try again. I close my top in two stages: 1. Operate button until top touches the rubber gasket seal of the windshield then hit the button again for a three count. 2. Then I pull down on the handle forcefully before twisting it shut.
