Just keeping everyone else in the loop...

I was privately contacted by another member who says they installed the 4D Tech Auto Start/Stop Eliminator. Easy installation, and works as advertised. (Meaning that when you start your vehicle, the A.S.S. will wake up in the same state that it was in when you last turned off your car).

I ordered my 2024 GT on July 31st, so I should be able to confirm how the "Eliminator" works... around March? April? (*Crickets*)

4D Tech is really missing out if they don't run an ad campaign with the tag line "Get your A.S.S. in gear!"

Took delivery of my 2024.50 last week and has the auto/start stop but you can disable it permanently in the mode selection. Sports mode has it disabled by default and if you create a custom mode you can turn it off permanently. Hopefully this isn't just a RHD (Australia) model thing...

Sorry for bad image/reflections... bright day...

ok so someone please confirm, can you permanently shut off the start/stop feature on a manual, or do you have to turn it off every time you start the car? Seems like it would be a nightmare driving manual in traffic with start/stop.

You can shut it off on a manual with a Custom Profile or any of the other profiles that already have it off. Its become second nature for me to start the car and push up on the steering wheel controls for my custom profile.

Can you just have your key tied to your custom mode, or you have to go into mode setting every day?

I gave up on tying my key to a custom profile, it kept bugging out. There is also a button on the dash to turn Auto Start/Off on or off, I'm not to sure if stays off after restart tho. I can test it later today when I take her out.

The manual I test drove DID have the A.S.S. It drove me nuts conking out at every light until I figured out what was going on and flipped the switch off.

You need to turn it off every time you start the car. I am told this is a U.S. requirement (for Ford to avoid gas guzzler penalties, or some such). The Aussie driver(s) above may very well be exempt, but the U.S.Ain't.

You CAN install the Auto Start/Stop Eliminator to force it to remain in the last state you left it in when you turned off the vehicle. OR you can drive in Sport mode, or try any of a couple other tricks mentioned here. But if you're a U.S. resident, I am pretty sure you don't get a "permanent off" choice in the infotainment screen. If your U.S. car DOES have the option, it's probably a lucky fluke. (Some very EARLY buyers report no A.S.S. hooked up to the button on their dash).

I never suspected they'd put that "feature" on a manual, though. Thppptt!

Thats unfortunate. I am in thr states. Where is the flip switch located? On the dash somewhere or somewhere annoying in the settings?

I've had my Ranger for 4 yrs and I do it the same way every time I get in
Get in push the start button, push the kill the start/stop button, put on my seat belt, take off the E brake shift into gear and go.
My Mustang GT will have the same procedure.

Yeah the auto start/stop feature is annoying but the "off" button is right next to the Ignition Button. Just press the start button with your first finger and punch the "stop" auto start/off button with your middle finger at start up.

Agreed, I was expecting it to be an actual annoyance. It's not, it's just a part of starting up the car. I also tap the mode down button twice to go into Sport mode once it's on the street.
