Very sorry if this topic is already covered or if this is the wrong place. I am not in a location where I can easily search.
I am going to get the Windows tinted on the S650 GT.
How do i disable the automatic windiw scroll down n up a quarter inch when I open the doors?
Thx.
Will post a pic when done.

Why? Just have the tint pushed far enough below the seal so the edge doesn't get caught on it when the windows moves up and down.

I will, but this is mainly to ensure that a push up doesn't happen.
Ive seen this in the groups before, but can't search where I am that easy.

I just got my windows tinted and this was a non-issue. Any reputable shop will know how to deal with this.
Yup. Completely unnecessary if the person doing the tinting knows what they are doing.

The instructions I was given do not work.
So I went down to my friends window tinting shop and he confirmed that as far as he knows there is no way to disable it even though there are instructions online how to do it.
It calls for one to close the window all the way while inside the car then to press n hold the wonfiw for 2+seconds. Uh, pressing it no matter how long causes it to open.
And lifting it doesn't work. Held it up 10 seconds and it still lowered.
My buddy does a trick to fool the car into thinking it is closed.
Flip the latch on the door that normally flips when you close it.
DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU ENSURE YOU UNFLIP IT BEFORE CLOSING IT.
He has had people do it then close the door and break the latch.
Anyway, tinting done and it looks great.

Looks great. What % did you go with? Also, I really like the color of your car. Which red is that?

The snarky answer is.... same color as my explorer, lol.
It is the Rapid Red Metallic.
The color is great, but those dang nit pocket holes (I have 2 that I know of) where it is a like a chip, but more like someone took a nail and just tapped it, no dent, just a pocket minus paint and overlay and actually down to the dang metal. I have touched them up with the rapid red touchup, but I know they are there so I still see them, others don't notice.

Anyway, Tinting.
My wife has lupus, so, we get the the Dr note to say she needs more tinting than regular. Honestly, this isn't a lie, if she is in the sun too long it severely "Pizza's" her skin, not a burn, but a nasty rash.
So, with Dr note, and the TN email, we send a copy of the car registration, Dr note (RX), and her license information, and if approved (which they did), they send us approval and a decal to put on the window.
Now get this, the stupid instructions say to put it on the back window 1 inch above/offset from the lower left. uh, this don't work. If you put the decal under the tinting, there will be air pockets using the tint level we used and it will eventually spread, and uh, with the tinting on, you can see the sticker, but can't make out what it is, so I'm going to put it where most states put the inspection stickers, driver windshield lowest left.
Tint leve, so, with that said, it is 5%, aka limo black.
And yes, I have had it on many other cars, including my wife's 88 Thunderbird, and it blocks all glare, etc., and I can see out of it just fine at night.

Gonna attach a few pictures.... first, my lovely wife in the Explorer. 2022, used, bought at a dealership and yes, it was a good price comparable to other used ones on used lots and online.

A pic before with my wife's TBird in the garage: (AND YES, my wifes 88 TBird gets the garage, alongside the mustang, the explorer rusts outside, uh, rests outside

I thought it might be Rapid Red but the lighting threw me off a bit. I'm a big fan of that color. My wife had a '21 Explorer in RR but we recently traded it in for a '24 Nautilus. I had a '21 Bronco in RR but just traded it for my '24 Mustang GT. I think Rapid Red probably looks good on any car to be honest.

Oh, and I went kind of light with the tints on my Mustang. I did 35's all around. My night vision isn't the best so I didn't want to go too dark. I mostly wanted the tints for UV protection and heat resistance. It gets blistering hot in the summer here in FL.

yeah, understand the heat in FL, born there, lived up through middle school years in Altamonte Springs, then high school and college years in St. Cloud, spent many a liquid lunch those last few years in Cocoa Beach....

yeah, on my explorer I did go 35% on the two windows and same for the front windshield down to the AS1 line.
I can't believe how much that few inches on the front windshield helps with glare and sun intensity, helps my wife a lot.
Same on the Mustang windshield.
If the 5 is too much on my driver and passenger over time, i can revert to 20 then when I'm.... 35, I probably won't be driving then, hah

Enjoy your rides.

I'm surprised no one mentioned WHY the window retracts! Yes, it is to help insure the sealing (from weather), but it is also to allow the window clearance. There are several instances where the slight unroll didn't work which caused the window to break.

Incidentally, when I checked into getting my windows tinted (I did not), the company mentioned they don't do the top 3/8" of the window. Geez! I wonder why?
