Try this! Drive your non-performance pack GT auto with and without the A/C on. Do you notice a difference in engine oil temp? My car is running 10 to 20 degrees cooler with the A/C on. I have tested this over 50 times. Is something wrong? A/C on avg. is 206 degrees with non-agressive driving. This is my 6th Mustang and I have never noticed this issue before. Then again, I don't think I ever had such a precise oil temp guage before. Are the 18 to 23's the same? My last one was a 17 GT non-pp. Appreciate any ideas or knowledge you may have.

The decrease in temps when the A/C is on is normal.

When the A/C is turned on, so the A/C works efficiently, at least one cooling fan engages.

Some in the southern states on the hottest days, if not already doing so, will turn the A/C on.

My '22 has the same behavior.

@Stang#6 and @Skye ....this is a completely new concept - explained by you as a fan coming on to cool the system. Because for decades if the engine was over heating you immediately shut it off and if the engine was running too hot you turned on the interior cabin heater as a last resort to drop the engine temp by circulation the hot engine coolant through the cabin heater thereby lowering the coolant temperature. This saved many engines in summer traffic jams from overheating but definitely the cabin became pretty hot in the car. Putting on the AC if your engine was overheating - NEVER - heard of that - doing that was usually the kiss of death......weird.

Lots of cars do this as you say. The fan usually blows over the AC condenser and the water radiator at the same time.

My 2007 Lotus Elise did exactly this 20 years or so ago. The AC and water radiators are next to each other and the fan came on whenever the AC was on with a secondary cooling of the engine coolant.

Understood. My 1991 LX 5.0 would start to overheat on hot days if I was not moving for too long.
