Congratulations on the lift; you’re really gonna enjoy it!

My garage ceiling was only 9’-3” but it was clear space between trusses overhead so I had a 32” tray built up so the top car had a place to go. Also had to install a high headroom door kit and a side mounted motor.

Mine is intentionally designed to not bolt down and be moveable. You just put the wheel dollies under the posts and roll it anywhere you want. It’s actually a selling feature of this lift. You can see the dollies up against the wall in one of my pics. If you’re worried about it toppling over you might as well worry about an earthquake taking your house down first because that’s what it would take. You couldn’t budge this thing with a Caterpillar. I’ve seen this particular one on a couple of TV car shows in daily commercial use so I figure it’s OK.

For me this has been life changing. I have a 3 car garage but I’m considering another lift already.

This a
@qwk93ta ..... educate me - when we installed a similar lift in my friend's garage we drove quick bolts into pre-drilled holes in his concrete floor to fasten the stands to the floor. We had seen a video of lift where one of the legs slipped and the car flipped. It doesn't look like your lift is bolted to the floor or is my eyesight failing?
This Atlas lift is designed so it can be moved which I wanted in case I buy a new house. The installer said 99% of the lifts are not bolted to the ground. My brother has an older lift that is bolted and it feels sturdier, but would not change my mind.

I also bought some Race Ramps made for a lift, they are on back order until the end of the month. The metal ramps are pretty heavy and I’d rather not use them. We will see how much I like the Race Ramps..kind of expensive at just under $500.

I can’t remember if the ramps came with mine or they were options but with mine anyway they’d almost be a necessity.

Thanks!

I got the white one during 4th of July week last year so I blame it on being overwhelmed by patriotism.

I caught the family CFO in a charitable mood last month and snuck in a black one too. I got no excuse for it. So unless I bite the bullet and get another lift one has to rotate in nearby storage. No way I’d roust the wife’s DD out of the garage; she’s been too good about this addiction.

I blew up your picture and realized to top car isn’t a Mustang but Dodge SRT! Wow, I had thought they were both Stangs and side windows are almost identical! Well, they are both nice although 👍!
I noticed that as well, was going to make a crack about that Dodge dripping oil all over the Mustang, but didn't want to draw the ire of any Mopar guys out here. :)

I bought a similar lift nearly 20 years ago and now its hard to imagine life without it. If y'all haven't already, I highly recommend also springing for a pair of bridge jacks. Then you have like 85% of the functionality of a 2-post lift as well. About the only thing you still couldn't do would be dropping an engine and transmission assembly out the bottom of a front-wheel-drive car (but who here would drive one of those? )

On another forum someone posted about having a similar lift in an ordinary suburban 2-car garage. He doesn't have the height for two cars over and under, but for brakes and suspension and even just cleaning and polishing, its like parking your car on top of your workbench. For working underneath the car, he sits and rolls around on a little stool. I don't have a lot of ceiling height either, but I'm only 5'7" so I can still stand up under my sports cars. Just have to be very careful to pay attention and not hit the ceiling. I carefully determine the max height for each of my cars just once and mark it on the post next to the pump motor. And I wired in an emergency cut-off switch too in case the button on the unit jams or something. So don't let a low ceiling stop you from considering a lift. Even if you can only get it 30 inches off the ground, it still beats the heck out of trolley jacks and jack stands.

Good lift design, where the sliding part is wrapped around posts. More stable. Backyard Buddy is another brand with that kind of design.

They are a Godsend for those of us that do our own work - Let me be clear I do my own work as much as possible unless it's to much for my experience to undertake. But I do it not so much to save the money - on the labor costs ($175.00 an hour, for some monkey with a wrench) and the 30% or more dealer up charge on parts - BUT TO MAKE SURE THE JOB GETS DONE RIGHT...

Because most people in all professions in all areas of this dumbed down Country we live in today - don't give a shit about the work they do, how they do it, and the outcome at the end, can't be trusted, and of course steal your eyes out of your head and try and sell them back to you before you drive away - 😡😡😡
