Been waiting for Borla to release thier ATAK catback for the 650 but I don't feel like waiting much longer. Flowmaster just released thier outlaw series catback for the Active Exhuast. I've had Roush, Corsa and Borla on my past mustangs but never a Flowmaster. Can anyone speak to the volume, Drone and overall sound compared to those systems ? any help would or input would be greatly appreciated

I've never had the outlaw axle back system. I have the American Thunder series on my F-150 and it sounds amazing. There is drone, however. I have the 40 series mufflers (2 of them) on my F100 and it also sounds awesome. I love Flowmaster for the deep American V-8 tone. Just depends what you want.

I had the flowmaster 40 series exhaust on my 2014 GT Premium and there was heavy drone when going 60mph+. It can get tiring when you go on a roadtrip for more than 2 hours. The volume and overall sound is louder and more pronounced than stock.

I have a video of the exhaust here:

Hey this is Junior from P6GR, I had the flowmaster outlaws on my S550. It's pretty much straight pipe with a couple baffles inside. It is really loud at wot but has a deep tone to it. It did drone at cruising highway speeds. Completely different sound from the corsa/borla systems.

was the drone bad enough that you wouldn't buy one of thier systems again ? Drone never really bothered me all that much. The Corsa and Borla didn't drone but the Roush did

From my personal experience yeah the drone was pretty bad I wouldn't go with the muffler again. Maybe I'm just used to the corsa/borla sound with no drone. If you had the roush axle backs and the drone didn't bother you with those you should be good with the flowmasters. They have valves too so you can always just close them, that should help on the highway.

Fllowmaster = drone. Had them, got rid of 'em.

Borla has the cleanest sound where. you can hear the clean and robust seperation of exhaust pulses.

all of them have a slight drone at a certain RPM, but Borla has the shortest one. If you hold a very specific RPM, you can perceive it, but you'd rarely hear it in daily driving. And definitely not in "spirited" driving.
