Is this insert available in Matte Black? Something similar to the front splitter and the other grill pieces?

Since it's easy to just remove and bolt in a new one, I think matte would be a good contrast, and would look better than the entire hood being glossy.

There are matte carbon fiber options. NYTOP and Lethal Performance both offer it.

I'm not a carbon fiber fan (especially not at those prices).

This one is more aggressive than stock and looks nice...

RTR Hood Vent (2024+ Mustang GT / Dark Horse) - 11011.0006.12.A

Satin, though... I guess still not as glossy as gloss.

I guess I could always take off the stock one and have it repainted in matte.

Varying opinions aside, I’ve never used plastidip. Is it easy to use and can you actually remove it later?

I'm just playing it makes sense since everything else is matte.

you should try it though. Watch some YouTube videos on people doing plastidip grills. yes it peels off like a complete skin/rubber wrap. leaves nothing behind. I think you need 3+ coats. if u just do one it's hard to peel off. multiple creates the "film".

Plasti Dip is fairly easy to undo and can look pretty decent if applied correctly. It is not known to weather very well. I believe some of the rattle cans contain some UV protection albeit probably short lived.
I would reserve it's use to older vehicles not something new and nice for a couple reasons.
1. Plasti Dip doesn't list a slip coefficient for their product. It is rather "grippy" which doesn't lend well to staying clean i.e., dirt/dust magnet.
2. I've never seen a reaction to underlying paint during removal. That being said it does contain a "solvent" carrier. I would not apply to newer paints without testing first. Problem with the latter is you don't have a test piece of the same that is sacrificial.
3. If I wanted matte black I would remove the vent, prep and paint. Follow up with a matte clear coat. You might be able to apply a matte clear over what you have now. I would consult on the latter.

Is there a hydrodipping place near you? That would be a good route.

I’m going to leave mine alone, just something else to mess up.
I like the factory Gloss which matches a factory grill.
I know you can’t please everyone all the time it is what it is.

Nice! Have any additional pics from farther away?

And it’s satin… in your opinion, would it make a good contrast to the gloss black good?

My PPF goes around the hood stripes (it was a pattern their machine cut for the Dark Horse) so my stripes aren't gloss like many folks who just put PPF over the whole hood. Becuase of that the satin sorta matches the stripes.

Here is what it looks like from a little further away and without all the other mods done yet. I think this was my first week of having the car. I now have satin black wheels to tie it all together.

If they came matte, people would want gloss black.

I prefer gloss but the rtr one is the one I'd get if I didn't want gloss.
