I'll be "that guy". You're about 18 years past the age you should be making it a priority to support yourself. If you are not yet doing that and still worrying about making a car payment you need to think about the end game. At 18 I got a full time night shift job, shared a rented apartment, drove a $1500 1973 Monte Carlo, paid my college tuition going to school full-time.

Take a month off work to learn how to shift a car?? Does everyone else here think everything is normal here?

Some thoughtful, grounded in reality replies since last I posted. I want to think things through thoroughly and thoughtfully before responding to them. The last thing I want to do is get too personal about myself on a forum (something I feel I do too often any ways, often unconsciously it feels like...and it's likely I've already done so in this thread).

That said, please stay tuned. Thank you everyone who's contributed here thus far.
It's not necessary. You owe us nothing.

I may not drive much, but I do enjoy driving. Admittedly my desire for trading in the EcoBoost for a GT isn't the most reasonable or practical, I get that. But at the same time, what if I don't get the opportunity to own a GT in my 40s, 50s 60s? Maybe the EV mandate gets delayed to past 2035, but do I want to take that chance? And my EcoBoost despite having apparently very low mileage for near five years isn't exactly going to increase in value if I hold on it after I pay it off (which in turn decreases the potential leverage I could have when selling or trading it in).

Sorry I'm probably the furthest thing from a traditional car enthusiast, but the Mustang (especially the V8 Mustangs) is a dream car for me, one I've admired since I was a kid. With this potential next Mustang, I'd like to get out driving more and even start doing some tasteful visual mods, possibly even performance mods down the line. I didn't do that with my EcoBoost in part due to the pandemic, but also because I realized a few years in to ownership that I wanted a GT eventually.

That's all I have to say for now. I know I have to have thick skin around these parts, and this is probably the closest I've been to being "overly sensitive" in a long time on the internet. I believe y'all are genuinely trying to help me out and I thank you all for that.

I look forward to the further discussion that may eventually come.
If I were you I would go on the internet and look for a used Mach 1 with a Tremec at a Ford dealership and get rid of that 4 cylinder Ecoboost even if it costs you money...A new 650GT costs you even more money and has Nothing over a used Mach 1...Even less as it has not the additional oil coolers if you track the car , no Tremec and the laggey touchscreens you can do without...IMHO Do it while you live with your parents because if you have to pay mortgage/rent its over playing with cars worth driving....And if you want to have real fun get a motorcycle ! They are cheaper and way more fun than any car...LOL

I looked him up and I'm not seeing the connection between he and I.
That was a reference to another time - no biggie. Sometime s topics lead to interesting discussions

@10basscat: I read @Stratman397's "How many are regretting" thread. Are you referring to me replying to everyone in multiple posts, posting my thoughts in multiple threads, or potentially sharing too much personal info about myself?

Basically yes to all of that. As someone also alluded to in another post “something isn’t right”…

You’re in your 30s, live with your parents, drive 2,000 miles/yr and don’t expect to buy your “dream car” until at least Aug 2025. Given that information your numerous questions are either so in the weeds or so basic a quick Google search could answer your questions. Then you tell us all to standby like we are all holding our breath to see what you do next lol.

I mean no harm, we’re all just a bunch of guys and gals that love showing off our cars, talking about them and learning about them. I wish you the best.

Please tell me how to delete this thread, have the mods delete this thread, or just have me delete my posts. I will not compromise my identity any further than I already have. Thank you.
I was in your exact shoes. My 2019 ecoboost had low mileage and I wanted the experience of a 5.0. I sold my ecoboost to carmax a month before my GT was scheduled to be delivered. I took that check from carmax (which was thousands more than trade in offer) and put it as a down payment, significantly reducing my purchase price and car note.
Best decision no doubt. Just because you drive low mileage annually doesn't mean you don't enjoy the excitement of the ride any less. I don't regret my decision one bit and I'm enjoying the hell out of my GT!!

I hope you do whatever you want. Personally in your position, order the GT. Who gives a shit what anyone else thinks about your "priorities" If you and the parents get along, your cool being single, why the fuck would you look to buy an overpriced house with high interest rates right now and the foreseeable future, or worse pay rent... Only live once, tomorrow is promised to no one and you work for your money, do with it as you choose. I have a 2010 Dodge Charger R/T bought new, has 28K miles on it, don't drive it much, though enjoy when I do.

Honestly bro, asking life advice on the internet is never going to end well. Work hard and enjoy your life, all the best

Thanks. I'll admit I got "one-guy"-ed (letting the one negative comment get to me amidst the multiple posts with positive/helpful feedback---but to be fair Zengineer had good points too), and now I'm just trying to make sure the rest of my posts don't have any incriminating information about my whereabouts, whenabouts, and whoabouts. I'm still sticking around here, but I'm just going to make a far better effort to be more cautious about what I post.
