After three months of ownership, I'm VERY disappointed in @Ford Motor Company 's poor choice of 'leather'. On another social media platform, the complaints are quite frequent. I wear khaki's and jeans daily for work, gym shots on the weekends (nothing at all that is abrasive) - there is no way the "wear and tear" should be this abysmal on the driver's seat. I can't fathom how bad this will be in three years. Anyone else having this issue?

I have not had that same experience. My seats are holding up well so far. It looks like something abrasive is rubbing your seat to cause that damage. Could it be your belt?

That's not looking great, is it. And the other reports of easily marked plastics makes me think these cars aren't going to age well at all,

How many miles are you on currently?

I don't think the miles matter if he owns the car 3 months.

I thought belt at fist, too...but if I use a belt at all, it's a web/canvas type belt - not a stiff or rigid type of belt. I can't imagine the "leather" being so delicate that would hurt it.

Would that help? Someone mentioned saddle soap on social media.
Just a little - kinda like polishing boots but this aint a shoe it’s a seat.

I'd check out autogeek.com to see what kind of leather restoration/rejuvenation products they carry. And, I hear their Customer Service ifs fairly generous with consultations/advice; you might be able to email/text them a copy of that damage photo to evaluate.

Best of luck getting it sorted!

BTW: It obviously happened as you settled downward into the seat; not as you moved horizontally into the car/seat. If it were me; I'd be examining that area EVERY time I got out to spot any new/worsening damage. If you do see any new damage you might be able to isolate what, if anything, you're wearing that's causing it.

PS: I caused wear in the same area of my drivers seat in the Focus ST I used to own. It was my key clip and keys that dangled from it. Haven't carried them like that since.

Not common at all, I rarely see leather wear on any stuff that comes across the service drive. I'd have to agree that something is rubbing it. Hands down the best leather care product is Pecards, its a paste that you rub in and wipe off. I've applied it several times to old dry cracked leather jackets and they are as supple as new after being treated. I had a '75 Corvette that the seats were bad looking, I used the bathroom tile cleaner Scrubbing Bubbles to strip the dirt off, then applied Pecards every night after work for 4-5 days, once the leather stops drinking it up, you are good, and apply once a year afterwards. The first time I took the Corvette out after the cleaning and conditioning, several people who'd seen it prior to that thought I'd replaced the seat covers.

Sometimes the web belts (used to wear when I was on active duty) can be rough on the edges. Not saying your belt is like the ones I used, but a possibility causing damage. Just a thought.

Lexol or saddle soap is your friend. Put it on THICK with several thin coats, not all at once. It will help. I used to have a client that was a Ferrari/Lambo dealer and of course every time I visited the shop I wanted to sit in the various cars that cost more than my house. First rule was NOTHING in pockets and no big cowboy style belt buckles. Nice people there. I always had fun.

My wife is an animal lover, so am I btw, so she would crucify me if I mentioned mink oil. lol !
Don’t let the secret escape that that’s cow she’s sitting on. Might as well treat it with something that even nature provides. 😉
