I have a convertible with black leather seats. Since I not want to get a burn on my legs due to the top down and sun up, I purchased neoprene seat covers. I also wanted to protect the leather from sweet and other dirt. T have had leather seats before and had the same thing happen on unprotected seats.

Agree with others: I feel that something rubbed or scraped that area. Seat belt, force when entering and exiting, clothes belt, rivets in jeans, animal scratch, technicians tool, something in pocket, etc. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I've been using Wolfgang's Leather Conditioner for a few seasons now. Works just like a skin conditioner. I apply several light coats, working each one in. Leaves the material with a nice finish. Not greasy or heavy. I apply it as often as I think I need it. Used on all leather surfaces. I cannot speak as to if it will hide or lessen the appearance of the damage seen.

Edit,

OP, I'm sorry you're dealing with the issue. I re-read the comments on what you wear when in the car. I cannot explain it other something physical. Something abrasive. It looks like scratch, rubbing or directional marks in several areas.

Before attempting repairs, you can try the dealer. Worst case, they'll deny the claim.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t the side bolsters made of pleather, not leather. I thought only the actual seating surfaces are leather. Also isn’t automotive leather coated and sealed? So conditioners really do not penetrate the material.

Yes, I think you're right. I re-read the description of the OP's signature and the photos. They are not Recaros. If that is the case, yes, while the center material is leather, the bolsters are not (full seat attached, as an example).

I've never tried my conditioner on a non-leather surface.

For vinyl, plastic, rubber and non-leather items, I've had good success with Perl.

I am glad the Emberglo interior comes in ActiveX for the convertibles, that said from looking through hundreds of S550 convertible listings, I'm impressed how well Ford's leather / pleather holds up. OP's seat cover is damaged and possibly defective, that's not how it wears normally.

Got over 10000 miles on mine now - yeah I drive a lot!
No issue with the seat back.
I did have some wear on the bottom and local ford dealership replaced in without question...

After three months of ownership, I'm VERY disappointed in @Ford Motor Company 's poor choice of 'leather'. On another social media platform, the complaints are quite frequent. I wear khaki's and jeans daily for work, gym shots on the weekends (nothing at all that is abrasive) - there is no way the "wear and tear" should be this abysmal on the driver's seat. I can't fathom how bad this will be in three years. Anyone else having this issue?

I was told by dealer that the only part of the seats that are actually leather are the perforated center sections front seats only. The scuffing then is on the vinyl so treat accordingly. If the color is worn through or permanently damaged it will need to be colored again.

This is the outcome I'm hoping for. Will hopefully know more later this week.

@Chuck319, I'm experiencing similar wear on my driver seat and I don't wear anything abrasive that I can think of that would cause this issue. I have the 401A with Carmine Red Leather-Trimmed.

I am not happy with the scratches and wear patterns. They are not terrible, but shouldn't look like this after just 2 months. I have an appointment with the dealer tomorrow and will bring it up

I am having trouble with my Carmine Red as well. It is really starting to wear, after just a couple of months

Post up how your experience at the dealer went. I'm going in on Saturday to talk to them about it. I'm really not happy - I'm three months in and the seat looks terrible!

Mine are black, but I agree - starting to wear at only a couple of months is not good. I can't imagine how it will look in a year. I'm just hoping it's a bad batch or something and the dealer replaces it...

I wonder if @Ford Motor Company knows this is an issue with the seats...
