The owners manual sez, 1qt coolant loss a month is Normal..

--If you have to add more than 1.1 qt (1 L) of engine coolant per month, have your vehicle checked as soon as possible.--

I don't agree loosing 1qt a month is acceptable either, there's leak IMVHO.

I've got 20K miles on mine and the coolant level was right on the min line when I bought it and has dropped about 1 finger width below the minimum level line over the past year,

I have gotten a whiff of coolant occasionally but haven't seen any signs of a leak, with that small of a loss it'll be hard to find a leak, it's most likely evaporation from the reservoir.

.
Wow I haven't seen that in the manual about 1qt of coolant loss in a month being normal and I agree that seems crazy. I am going to keep an eye on my coolant level like a hawk for sure. I wonder if it's ok to keep driving it where the level is at on mine (in the pics above)? It seems to have stabilized at that level and I have just under 6K on the vehicle now coming up on (1) year of ownership next month. I'm hoping the coolant level comes back up on it's own with the arrival of the warmer weather here but I guess we'll see.

Can you screenshot where you see in the owners manual that coolant consumption is normal? I am certainly not a mechanic but as far as I know, coolant is not a consumable fluid, unlike engine oil.

It's page 303 in the Maintenance Section of the Owners Manual

That paragraph says that if you are having to add 1 L coolant, get your vehicle to the shop ASAP because there are problems under the hood.

No, it says if you have to add more than 1L per month, get your vehicle checked.
That means less than 1L a month is considered "normal" to Ford.

" If you have to add more than 1.1 qt (1 L) of engine coolant per month, have your vehicle checked as soon as possible. "

Just for s&g’s I asked a ford tech about this. To be clear, there is NO amount of coolant loss or consumption, ever, that is considered normal, and this is not limited to mustangs. The phrasing in that section is bad. It’s likely a result of a technical writer trying to use a clear objective standard to indicate issue. It’s hopefully not Ford trying to skirt around having to do warranty work because of a subjectively chosen objective measure of volume.

Noticed the same thing on an 8 month/10K mile 2024 Ecoboost.
Will be topping it off and monitoring it closely. I've heard coolant loss on an Ecoboost can be a sign of headgasket issues.
