Again, the subject is Mustang. Try to keep up.There can be no comparisons to anything ever again because no two things are identical says 9secondko.
If you don't think a Jeep Wrangler was a very specific vehicle for a very specific purpose, then you don't know what you're talking about.
while trucks and SUVS are meant for a variety of purposes, (groceries, Home Depot runs, hauling people around, off-tossing, etc.) it makes sense to have a variety of trucks and SUCs to choose from. Heck, even cars started out with ZERO doors. But then we had a variety of cars. Two doors, 4 doors, lambo doors, etc. didn’t stop it from being a car.
but we aren’t talking about cars. We aren’t talking about SUVs. We aren’t talking about trucks.
we are talking about a specific model that has a very specific identity. A two door sports coupe that is attainable for everyone and not impossible to live with as a daily driver. Somewhat convenient, but inconvenient enough to maximize performance at a given price point while looking cool and a bit rebellious.
you change any of that and you no longer have a Mustang.
Maybe Ford can’t afford good marketing people and had to get the C and D grade folks leftover after hiring sprees. You know the type, the ones who think because they had an idea that everyone needs to follow. Disregard the fact that the general public is smarter than they like to think and don’t like having their chain yanked.
identities matter. The Mustang has a very strong, very specific identity as a 2 door sports coupe it is what everyone - including you - think of when you hear the name, think about past versions, or dream about future versions.
let’s stop pretending, admit Fords marketing sucks right now, and needs somewhat who knows what they’re doing to step in and leave junk ideas like this on the cutting room floor.
