Pricing wise, I would anticipate this for the Mach-4:

2.3 EcoBoost: $35-45K
5.0 V8: $50-60K+

Thoughts? I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't see Ford doing more than two engine options. (2.5 Hybrid would most likely make it a "commodity product", and a turbocharged V6 would probably yield worse fuel economy than the EcoBoost in my mind.)

My belief is the 2.5L and 2.3L Ecoboost will be the primary engines, it's mirroring the Maverick. The Maverick just got AWD in 2025 for the hybrid variant, which I suspect is the base for the Mach 4.

There's some engineering benefit to being ready for AWD anyway, since future mild-hybrid ("e-boost" and regenerative braking) emissions compliance setups will go that route. Coyote will be performance spec and RWD.

Do you think the Coyote variant will have optional AWD as well? And regardless if it does or not, how much do you think AWD will cost as an option? I'm thinking it'll be $2K minimum.

I don't have any insight into where Ford is at with their mild / e-boost hybrids. It makes sense to offer the Coyote with mild-hybrid AWD, I just don't know if they have that ready to ship.

unless they are going to bring that to the Mustang proper, no. The reason to do this is for parts sharing. Putting a ton of new options and such that don't have a corresponding component in the Mustang means additional costs. I don't want a focus that looks like a mustang, I want a 4 door version of the 650.

If they bring an AWD version to the new model, then they need to bring it to the Mustang as well.

And it did fine. So again, the argument against a 2 door coupe transitioning to a sedan doesn't really hold up.
Just to recap.....The thunderbird has been a 4 door but the Mustang has never been in 60 years. It would be a better candidate for this platform, also it wouldn't break any lore. Your argument doesn't hold water.

this makes the most sense.
Revive a cool name, satisfy whichever board member wants a 4 door car again, and leave the mustang legacy intact.

win-win.

mid the Mach e is any indication, abusing the Mustang model as a brand actually hurts sales instead of helping.

let’s stop with the nonsense and do it right - give another car another name.

Something I think people aren't taking into account with multiple mustang models is economies of scale
Dodge hadn't made a good looking muscle car this century. Their designers just aren't very good. The challenger was the misproportioned ass of a Kardashian, the old charger was a lumpy potato, and this new charger looks good from the front, but the c-pillar is awkward looking.

It's almost always the back end, they always make the c-pillar weird looking, or the rear end too far, or long. I'll have to reserve final judgement of the new charger 'til I see it in person, but it also looks huge, which adds to the ungainly design.
I wanted to have my 2 door V8 Mustang, like I have had since I was 18 yrs old and have a sedan V8. But Ford has no sedan V8 anymore. I got rid of my Mustang due to issues with it and my gf requiring expensive cancer treatments so I stayed with my needed sedan. Sorry, but when it comes to a certain criteria.....4 door good looking V8 that is not a truck I went Dodge / Chrysler...... with that said, if Ford comes out with a good looking V8 sedan I'm in!!

My sympathies regarding your GF. I hope she makes a full recovery and you both are able to cruise around in a mustang sedan for many years to come.

Thank you, as of last week she is cancer free. Started with double mastectomy, 5 weeks of chemotherapy 5 days a week with weekends off to "heal" was rough. Then pinpoint radiation therapy a couple times a month. Once her scans came out cancer free it was reconstructive surgery. Last week was the first scan since everything was done and it was clean.

Once I see these issues with the 2024+ Mustangs are resolved (engine issues, software issues) we will be looking to get another one.

That's a boat, not a Mustang.

10 inches longer, 4 inches taller, 500lbs heavier

For Door's Sake! :D

People seem to forget, that the Mustang (whether you see it as a brand or not) is a global car since 2015. Hence Ford doesn't care if they meet the needs of the American people solely, but globally.

Fair enough you have the Lincoln or Fusion, but us Europeans don't have that and they discontinued the Ford Mondeo (which was our only Sedan) 2 years ago.

I think a 4 door Mustang will also get more attraction in the Asian markets, especially in China where there you only have 2l engine for the (still operating) Ford Mondeo.

Of course we can debate whether the naming is good or not, but I think Ford tries to establish the Mustang as we know as a seperate brand including SUV's, coupes, Sedans and maybe also a Dakar version like Lamborghini and Porsche did.

At the end of the day we need to see and wait but generally I would give everything a chance and I am not aversed if a 4 door would come out and being a rival for Audi A5 Sportback/A7, Porsche Panamera, BMW 8 series, Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes AMG GT 4 door, BMW 4 series gran coupe etc.

And btw I am happy that we are discussing things like that, rather than debating about EV's....

8/10 Mustangs are sold in the USA. So less than 5,000 get sold to the rest of the world. Very small enthusiast market.

You think Chinese Mustang sales will be more than a rounding error? The Mach-E already flopped there, just like the in USA.

Does the name make the car or does the car make the name?

Yeah it’s a dumb idea that hasn’t worked with the Mach E. That’s what @9secondko gave information on. Yeah it’s a global car as far as the Mustang is sold around the world, not Mustang is a SVT badge. Lol

Bring back the Falcon since it has presence overseas and the 4 door, performance sedan formula was something that made it popular.
