Having some issues with my 24 GT that has under 3,000 miles. Car is 6 speed, has the actice exhaust, and is completely stock. The other day, I noticed my clutch started making a clicking sound and slight squeak whenever I push the clutch in. This happens when the car is completely turned off as well. Clutch definitely doesn’t feel as smooth as it did. The weird thing is, once the clutch started making the noise, my brake pedal started making this extremely weird and loud air whooshing sound whenever I press them. I’ve done some research and I’ve seen other people have a similar brake sound I’m having but not sure if the clutch and brakes are connected or just a coincidence. The transmission is also making some weird noises as well and it doesn’t feel like it’s shifting as smoothly as it once was. Another issue I’m having is a weird noise coming out of my left side exhaust tail pipes and I can’t tell what it is. It’s almost like a puffing sound, it’s hard to explain but i can only hear it out of the left side tail pipes. Also started having this terrible ticking sound which I believe might be the typewriter tick but I’m not for sure. It happens in lower RPM but obviously the noise of the exhaust drowns it out. I’m getting in touch with Ford today but just worried they’re going to tell me nothing is wrong. The weirdest part about all of this is that these issues started happening all in the past week. Maybe I didn’t recognize them right away but the car definitely doesn’t feel like it did. Does anyone know what’s going on or experienced any of these issues?

Two references above. One, a recall for manual transmission clutch lines coming loose, leaking fluid and creating a fire hazard. The other, a comprehensive listing of recalls, advisements and Technical Service Bulletins.

To be on the safe side, I wouldn't drive the car any more than you have to. You don't know if you're causing any damage or not.

Regarding the brake booster or brake hissing sound, that could be related to a vacuum leak. I'm speculating.

Does the exhaust note or condition change with the driving mode selected?

As to the BBQ tick, it's existed for years. I wouldn't worry about it. Ford has officially stated the tick is a characteristic of the Coyote.

Setting all that side, what are the vitals when you are driving? Normal temps and pressures, or are you seeing other tells that might highlight specific areas? Under hood, things appear OK? Underneath, any leaks? Smells?

I have the brake issue. My car is currently at the shop they are still trying to pinpoint the brake noise. I can update when I hear back, hopefully next week.

They are replacing a catalytic converter for a check engine light I’ve had. Not sure if a cat would cause weird exhaust noise issues.

My problems started around 3k miles.

I’ll get you some answers here in a little bit. I haven’t noticed anything different with the temps or pressures and I have no codes or anything telling me something is wrong. I’m gonna go back out here in a little bit to see if I notice anything when I look at more in depth. I can probably get some videos of what I’m hearing and post them in this thread.

The brake issue and clutch issues are what’s scaring me. The brake issue does not sound normal at all.

The noise is definitely not normal. In addition to the swooshing mine also starts to creak/click.

I appreciate the video. You definitely have the same air whooshing sound as me. I have a small creak/click with mine as well but not nearly as loud as yours. Did you notice any changes with your brakes like brake pressure changes or anything?

Nothing that I noticed. The brakes seem to work normally outside of the noises.

Sounds a like a fluid / pulling in air. Has the pedal feel changed ?
I believe the brake and clutch share the same reservoir?

Yes I believe so. I definitely think it’s more mushy than it was.

Unfortunately the MT82 was junk on day 1 and it is still junk today. The Tremec should be the only manual tranny.

Thankfully you are in warranty, so no matter the culprit you will be covered.

Just got done at the Ford dealership and it’s kind of what I expected to hear. One of the mechanics came out and took a look everything. He told me the brake sound was a normal sound some of the 24 GT’s have and he’s serviced multiple of them like that before. He said the clutch noise doesn’t sound too concerning to him. I told him I was more concerned because they happened at roughly the same time and I know they both use the same reservoir and the clutch hasn’t felt the same since. Other than that, the transmission concerns are still TBD. I have an appointment on Monday and they’re gonna look over everything again and test drive it and go from there. Definitely still think there might be something wrong, especially with the trans. It continues to just make worse sounds and shift rough. Not to the point where I’m missing gears but definitely not as smooth as it was. I will write an update once Ford gets done with it Monday or if any of issues get worse between now and then.

Are there any other new mustangs on the lot? Even if it’s an auto you can test the brakes for the sound. I don’t remember my car making the whooshing noise when I bought it.

My DH has a similar noise, was just hoping it was rubbing some trims in the cabin...RHD car

Thanks for the update.

Three things I'd like them to accomplish:

1. The drivetrain is pretty dense, with a lot of hot spots. With the car cold, starting at the brake reservoir, run a hand over each bit, down to the area of the trans slave cylinder. Check fluid level in reservoir, any wet spots, loose pieces, anywhere.

2. Complete all drivetrain-related recalls, Special Service Messages and Technical Service Bulletins. Doing so will establish a baseline.

3. Have someone from the dealership, someone who is used to or currently drives a manual transmission, take the car for a test drive.

Hopefully, that will shed light on any problem areas.
