As the title says, I splurged on a brand new 2024 s650 convertible in race red with literally every option. I paid MSRP which was right at 67k and with taxes 70k, fully paid off in 3 months, but it killed my savings considerably, especially after getting a full body ppf and ceramic coat and tint for another $6400 and they did a shit job so now I'm fighting with them for a complete redo or my money back. I thought it would be a forever car but looking back it was one of the worst financial decisions of my life due to crazy immediate depreciation and because I'm having a lot of problems with it after a hard road trip (rattling everywhere in the front especially around the doors and A pillars,Magnaride doesn't feel like it's working anymore, crazy panel gaps hood, both doors, trunk and deck lid, triangle windows not closing equally, left exhaust hangs lower than the right, - don't know how a few hundred miles of bad roads could do this much damage but I'm pretty sure most of this was not there before that) and I'm praying that Ford service can't fix it and I get a Ford buy back and most my money back, especially bc they won't even offer a rental for warranty work or the active recall on it. I tried to trade it back in and one dealership offered me around 48 to 50K which I can understand but another dealership offered me 35 to 38k. It doesn't even have 6,000 Mi and it's completely paint protected and ceramic coated along the full car, looks better than new. I'm kicking myself hard for not just waiting a year or two and getting a used one at a realistic value, bc right now I can find very lightly used dark horses for the same price I paid or even less, way less for a slightly used GT. Will never buy new again. Is this just how stealerships work? Would I be better off putting it on auto trader for maybe around 59k and seeing what best offer I can get? I love the car, but I wish I had gotten the same car in the hard top coupe because that extra 167lb makes the driving experience a lot different from the coupe, especially around twisty mountain roads, which was the main reason I got it. The convertible was fun until you get used to it and with long hair it can make things a little messy, not to mention sun burns on your face and arms. I rented an EcoBoost convertible for a few weeks so I thought I knew what I was doing but clearly I made a mistake. Any thoughts or opinions on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

I’d consider getting an independent expert analysis of the car, without you first prejudicing that person’s opinion with what you think is wrong with it.

Reading between the lines of your post here (and other posts you’ve made about the car) it honestly sounds very much like a terrible case of buyer’s remorse to me. It’s hard to see how any one car could be as bad as this in every respect. My apologies if I’m wrong.

It isn’t because it’s a convertible and I doubt it’s a little bad road. I have a 2020 GT convertible that is as tight, good handling and fast as you could want a car to be. I’d look elsewhere for the trouble.

You ask opinions as to what you should do. If you can’t come to terms with it, and I doubt you can, you should sell it quickly and put the whole thing behind you. Move on with your life and learn from the experience.

By the way, have you considered the possibility of a prospective buyer seeing your thread here? Having the PP increases the odds a buyer is an enthusiast.

If it’s paid off … just list on autotrader and take your loss. Have you driven a Dark Horse? Mach 1? GT350? S550 PP2?
All new/newer cars are depreciating assets.
You might find you have just as much fun in an S550 that has all ready taken a bigger depreciation hit which will allow you more ability to build your savings back up.

Go look at the prices of 15 year old Mustangs and remember whatever you spend… that’s where eventually you will end up…

My service advisor is great so I'm hoping if they can't fix the issues I'll get the Ford buyback, otherwise either have to keep it or sell it. Is autotrader or carmax a better way to sell than a stealership?

You started off by complaining about how bad everything was on the car and the terrible ppf work, then say you hope for a buyback. You then immediately shift to how you can’t believe the trade in offers you’ve received because the car is “completely paint protected and ceramic coated along the full car, looks better than new.” Then you move onto loving the car but wishing you had bought the hard top.

What I am hearing is a case of buyer’s remorse, which is likely making you oversensitive to every minor thing about the car. I understand, as I’ve been there before. Bottom line is either decide to keep and enjoy the car (and get the dealer to fix any issues) or sell it knowing you’ll take a big hit on it. Unfortunately, I don’t think you’re going to get any grand insights on the forums that take away your anxiety. Best of luck to you as I know this kind of dilemma is very frustrating.

IME: PPF / Tint on a daily driver is a sunk cost. You're not going to recover it in resale.

If this were a GT3RS, or something like that, it'd be a little different.

My opinion: The only reason to spend $6,400 to 'seal' the vehicle is if you intend to keep it for many years. Even then, it would need to be garaged, parked 100 feet from any other vehicle, and driven only in fair weather. As stated by others, depreciation is your biggest expense, with the rest of the cost a dose of vanity.

I’m a little concerned.
I would have had the Mustang Ceramic instead of my Body?
I know everyone’s different.
I might’ve misunderstood you?

If not happy get rid of it. Get an S550. There's some great deals on them. I seen a 2023 Mach 1 with a Tremec fully loaded. I believe it was $42K, 7.5K miles, and grey. You can find Bullitts for around $30K all day. I found a Dark Horse Premium, Tremec, Ember Blue with extreme low miles for $60K. So I sold my Whippled 300A GT 6 Speed for it. I took a good loss but helped put a smile on a younger colleagues face. He absolutely loves the car. No other Muscle, Sports, or whatever they like to call it exists now. Certainly not American made. And a Vette is a different beast. Although I like them too. But no room for anything, and getting in , being in, and getting out is like a coffin.
