BS. 40K plus sales with the factory closed for a month. Would have probably been close to 50K if not for that.
Mustang sales are strong and will continue into the future. Bet they get closer to 50K this year, even with the new high prices.
So the Mustang outsold others cars it’s not competing with and that are far more expensive? That news was more relevant when the Mustang had some actual competitors but the Camaro is gone and so is the Challenger/Charger. BMW and Mercedes moved their products upmarket so an M4 is now much more expensive and every real sports car never competed with the Mustang in the first place.

Sales are somewhat low and it doesn’t matter whether we’re talking +/- a few cars a year - wouldn’t make much of a difference anyway. The ‘new’ S650 had almost zero impact on sales figures and that’s abysmal. Now, I don’t think the product itself is the sole reason sales are what they are but I think a better product would help. The car isn’t bad – it just doesn’t offer anything truly compelling that couldn’t have been had prior for less.

Maybe Ford ‘skips’ the S650 refresh and moves on to the S750 or whatever the program will be called. New platform (take one that exists already and produce the Mustang on it as well to save costs), new everything. The upside would be that the car could be released ‘next to’ or shortly after they axe the S650. No retooling needed in FlatRock if the car is produced elsewhere.

I'm quite sure the profit from 40-45k Mustangs is enough for Ford to continue as planned. Don't expect the S750 for at least 4-5 more years, if not more.

There are over 3,000 2024's still sitting on the lot. How many cars do you think they make a month at that place?

I could have bought any car I wanted in 2024, up to a point. I did consider a Challenger (new 2023 and much cheaper) since I was always a Mopar guy growing up. I was never a Chevy fan but was tempted by a Vette, but I just couldn't do it. I drew the line there. A few of my friends growing up had Mustangs, while we were teens then I also respected the Fords, but like I said, I was a Mopar guy. When I did my research last year (months worth), I could not be swayed from buying my new Mustang. So if sales were down, I will always consider myself as owning a collector's car. At least that is what I will tell myself everytime I get in the car and drive down the road and listen to the motor and exhaust then feel the power!

Been that way for a few years
They sold more Mustangs in 1989 than they did the last four years combined.
Times were very different in 1989. They sold over half million in 65 & 66....what's your point? As I've stated, there are a lot of factors, some controllable, some uncontrollable that has caused the decline in ALL auto sales over the years. Cost may very well be a major factor as many will not or cannot pay $50K+ for a mustang, let alone any vehicle.

Oh, about 3000 :) It's good there's still 3000 cars, maybe I can still find the 24 I want and not have to spend 6K more for a 25.

Mopar prices went sky high...can't believe they are asking over $60k for a Scat Pack!
I can't either. I still love my 2016. It MSRP'd for 51 and I got it for 36. A new one would be 60 but they are discounting 13-15K on the remaining ones. I will keep the Challenger when I get the Mustang. Too nice of a car to let it go.

They're only the best selling in 24 because my family and I bought three of them. One GT with SC, and two GT Premiums. Working on two more. Right now you can go on the Mustang builder and do a search in the 50 mile search centered in Houston and there's DHs all over for sale, even one with carbon fiber rims. They love Mustangs in Texas.

I guess I might as well look at DH as well. I've heard of some discounts on them around here. No carbon fiber wheels for me tho. I'm going to drive it, a lot and don't want to have to worry about $$$$ wheels.

I believe that DH Premium with carbon fiber runs was 90K. I like Mustangs, but for that price I'll take the Vette. I also heard some states you can't have carbon fiber rims. After watching a video of a drag race where the CF drive shaft basically exploded, no carbon fiber on any stressed parts for me.

Basically any major asset bought before 2020, which is when the government started printing TRILLIONS of dollars out of thin air for unnecessary COVID relief and quantitative easing, was bought at a great deal before inflation spiraled out of control.

If had I bought any major asset before then, I would have no reason to buy one now where I'd get mostly the same thing for a significantly higher cost. I feel bad for the younger generations who have inherited this mess, and I have no idea how they afford homes that now have mortgage payments that are DOUBLE what they were 5 years ago for the exact same thing.
