Other thing I noticed when filling out the forms they send you - that insurance means you are still responsible UP To the first $6500 in damages to the car! Ouchie.

Has anyone been to this yet? Was it worth going and what experience did you attend?

I am going September 4 and 5, on track on the 5th for the road course. Didn't sign up for the drag strip experience.

Is anyone else on here going to be there on that date?

Got a hard copy notice in the mail 2 days ago (tossed it--too far away).

Best of luck to those who signed up though! Hope you have a great time (pics and/or video please!). 👍

I think the first sessions are the week of August 5. I’m attending the drag strip session August 7.

Oh, just as a heads up, I reached out to the organizers on Monday to ask how the "new" track was coming along and whether it would be ready in time for my Aug 27 session. I had been told previously that we would NOT be on the Roval and would be using the new track (that's what they told me back in early June when I signed up).

Now they're telling me that the new track won't be ready until next year, and that we'll be running a "hairpin" version of the Roval... Basically, it's the infield portion of the roval, exiting out onto the front straight, NASCAR 1+2, and then about 1/2 way down the back straight you do a 180 and reenter the infield. See here (this is what Matt Grev from Ford Performance Racing School sent me):

This layout will be very challenging as that infiled configuration is VERY tight and won't allow for very high speeds, with lots of elevation changes. 6/7 and 9/10 are pretty tough and you can easily overcook it and get in bad positions. However, getting out onto the NASCAR 1+2 and then doing the hard braking before the HP hairpin should be VERY fun!

I did some testing on iRacing. The exact layout doesn't exist, but you can load up the "Legends Medium" layout and just take turn 11 to the left onto the oval instead of turning right to go back into the infield. However, while you can see the opening in the wall on the back straight where the HP is, if you try to go through it you hit an invisible wall, so you pretty much have to follow the track all the way around and reenter the infield normally... Still, gives you a good way to practice the infield portion and know the layout...

Can't believe it's only a month away! Can't wait!!!!

And this right here is why I never do any of these events. Let me bring my car then.

Sucks because I am 30 minutes away.

How was it?!? Any pics/video? Hope you didn’t get rained out due to the Tropical storm…
It was great! The instructors were excellent and I had a very enjoyable time. Weather actually held out for us and started coming in Wednesday evening after we finished. I plan to make a new post about the event, but have just been so busy I haven't taken the time to do it. We drove the Dark Horse for the drag strip, the Ecoboost for the emergency lane change exercise and drift brake session, then the GT for the Urban Autocross.

One thing I wish I had known beforehand is how involved the "guest" would be during the event. Essentially, those who had a guest with them during the driving sessions were able to split time where the owner and the guest each got a turn at every event. My wife came with me and was not interested in attending the driving session, so I was able to drive the entire time. That is one thing to keep in mind is if your guest is going to drive, then your drive time will be half that of someone without a guest (or with a guest who chooses not to drive).

They had a photographer taking pictures all day and sent us a link to the pictures with instructions that we could use the photos anywhere we wanted as they did not have any copyright. There are 720 photos and I haven't even looked through them other than to find one to post along with this comment. I'll be sure to post a better review with more pictures and details before too long.

We are heading down this weekend for the 8/19 session on the Road Course. Pretty amped up for it as well. Glad to hear positive review from @krisk. I'll post what I can once we get back as well.

@krisk can you elaborate on the Autocross, Matt Grev made it sound like you ride as a passenger with an instructor driving and then took the helm on the course with the instructor as a passenger. Is that the case & why your guest can't ride along for that portion?

For the drag strip experience, there were no events where the instructor rode along, including autocross. On the drag strip itself, which required wearing the racing suit, HANS, and helmet, no passenger was allowed, but the other events the participant and guest rode together. Actually, I’m not certain if guests were allowed to ride along during the drift brake. That may have been one with no passenger allowed. My group only had one driver with a guest and their guest drove a different car for drift brake. I don’t know if that was because we had an extra car or if they didn’t allow a passenger for drift brake.

For autocross, both the participant and guest rode together then just swapped who was driving after the first four runs.

Since I didn’t do the road course experience, I don’t know if that may have been something where the instructors rode along. For my whole experience the instructors gave guidance via radio in the car while driving.
