On the day I took receipt, a couple were picking up a brand new F150. Cats? Gone. Cut out the night before. At the dealer.

New vehicles are prized. The internal metals are not spent as much as a used unit and are worth more. Tundras are #1 on the hit list; they have multiple, large cats and easy access.
yeah, thieves really like the new vehicle cats. my dealer once had someone overnight steal cats off an Econoline (yes, they still make those brand new) and try to steal a DPF from i think an F-600. key word there is "try", i think they realized the trouble with stealing such a big piece. we also used to get about one F-59 Amazon van in per week with stolen cats, but that slowed down a lot. those 7.3L V8s sound pretty good cat-less

It's on the engine side of the resonator. Probably wouldn't have been attempted theft as I only park at gas stations for about 5 minutes to fuel up and get a drink. It did sit at the plant for a couple weeks waiting for Ford to give the OK to buy where someone could have messed with it. Other than that, it sits in my garage if I'm not actively driving it. I have a different car I take to work and run errands in.
Truck or rail? Almost looks like someone went, hey watch this, run right up on the truck bang/bounce it over the apex (ding/ring), hear that? Yeah, i wonder what it was? Yeah, dunno, only the ones run up into that spot do it. Arrgh my heads - everytime exhaust gets slammed and then hooked like that i’m like oh crap there goes my …. But thats just me. Hopefully nothing else got damaged and alls well with the mod. In this case the mod (adding the h - otherwise who knows how long exhaust venting may have gone unnoticed) may have been fortunate.

Curious: Why did you take delivery if you were aware of this "before (you) took delivery"?

Interesting. It's a very clean cut or impact, almost right in the center. Almost seems intentional.

Are we looking at the end facing the engine, or the back, towards the trunk? If the former, I'd think some type of road debris. The latter, someone backing over something, maybe during shipping. Alternatively, at the factory, maybe a tool slipped during production.

Edit,

And yes, attempted theft is a possibility. Maybe they were attempting and realized what a PITA that is, given the ground clearance and all.
Looks like Carrier damage done while unloading the car at the dlr

I didn't notice it because the exhaust has always sounded normal. I looked the car over pretty hard but I didn't make them put it on a lift before I took delivery so I didn't see the underside of the car. Any car I buy in the future will go on the lift beforehand.

That is my guess too. It was delivered by truck.

Then you cannot say with 100% certainty that it occurred BEFORE delivery (your thread title). Just saying.

I can all but guarantee him they won't.
