Hi everyone
I'm anticipating to about to make a deal on my very first mustang. (i'm going with my final offer today). It runs in the famiy. My grandma had one, even my mom lol. Now my turn.
It's going to be a grabber blue GT, fairly upgraded. So it will draw attention in my neighborhood and parking lot.
My last car was stolen a month ago, so i'm hyper keen on this. It was a black acura TLX 2022 aspec (I loved it, probably more than I love the mustang right now TBH.. though I know i'll love the stang). That car just had factory 'security'.
I just bought "the club" steerring wheel secure bar. I ordred a remote kill switch. I also bought a Nextbase - iQ 4K Smart Dash Cam. I'll also hide an apple airtag in it.
I'm not married to any of the above. At least until the klll switch is installed. The rest can be returned. Though from the time I had to reasearch the above seems the best combo. I don't see a point to adding anything else (?) like a viper. Only other thing I can think of is LoJack.
Anyhow what do you all think?
I'm also thinking the fact taht the car is so bright blue it might be a deterrant b/c it stands out (?) and easier for police etc to see it if stolen.
TIA!

If they want your car, they will get your car. Make sure you have good insurance that will repair (e.g., comprehensive) or replace it if stolen. Beyond that, just use common sense.

It seems you're well into purchasing a new car. But it reads like your number one problem is what you've already confirmed: open parking in a neighborhood where a car like an S650 will draw interest.

Differing types and amounts of security can help, but I'd have to wonder if it's worth it. Given the situation, I'd be constantly up and looking around to see what's going on outside. Seems like a really difficult situation to enjoy it. It would bring me nothing but anxiety.

Long-term, potentially filing multiple claims over time, you run the risk of your insurance being cancelled. A claim here, a claim there, they'll drop you. And that follows you to the next company.

If at all possible, I'd select something decidedly more down-scale, practical and unnoticeable. Once you move, you can again pursue the car. The S650 is going to be around for at least a few more years.

Don't mean to come off being a downer or negative. Best Wishes in whatever you decide.

I agree that if you can make it more difficult for some scumbag to abscond with, you should, because large, urban police departments don’t “do” stolen vehicles. You call them expecting that there will be someone out beating the pavement looking for your ride. You’re mistaken if you think that. They get the VIN & plate number, give you a report number and tell you to file an insurance claim. For some departments, that’s it. They could be spotted if it’s just a joyrider or on the way to the store house thieves use, but they will slap on stolen plates before moving it again.

A great deal can be done by not going to stupid places at stupid times where stupid people congregate. Like... urban apartment complexes, open air drug markets, street parking in barrios, stop ’n robs, suburban areas with high population concentration, etc.

@FishPerson sorry to her about your Acura! Like others noted; if pros WANT your car they'll take/get it. All anti theft systems can do is slow them down to whatever degree, and "might" deter amateurs looking for a joy ride (maybe).

I'd say you're pretty well protected with the OEM alarm system, The Club, and a kill switch. And as well stated above; if at all possible, avoid parking for any length of time in sketchy areas.

☠ to all car thieves!

TY for that :-D
The car cam does alert if there is motion around the car and if the car has any motion to it. And video to my phone. I know would be weird to confront anyone breaking in. But it's there.
I figure with the layers of secutiry it will take some time to cut the club. THen time to break the kill switch. While I'm being alerted of something going on to the car.

I feel delay is the idea. Becaue it's most likely to be attempted to be stolen again from my apt bldg parking space which ill be close by.
While the thief is trying to take the car, the car vibration detector will alert me on my phone. What to do then? Other than call poilce? I have to expect thief has a gun. I dont. I can shine a flashlight or laser to him though! Let him/her know i see him.
He still need to deactivate the kill and cut through the club and if he doesnt know about the gps tracker at least ill know where the car is if he does start to move it. But fair chance by then police are right there.
In case its a tow attempt, The vibration detector should also alert me if the car is gettting set to be towed.
Ill only know if a theft attempt is made how the above theory is in reality.
The nextbase smart cam was a realy dumb idea. It will just attract a thief to steal it. I now do not understand how people have that thing always in the car and not expect THAT to be stolen and make the car a more attractive target.

Agreed. Tow it up on a flat bed for one. Thieves can easily get around alarm systems. Sofistigated decoders that can read your key fob is another that I read about.
