My car is listed as a possible affected vehicle. I'll have to get under it and see if I have the bad ones.

Were you notified of the recall via Fordpass or what?

I've always been notified via physical letter. Ford sends those letters to the last known owner and address. As a fallback, if the car ever enters a dealership, the dealer will run the VIN against all open recalls and act accordingly.

Ford Pass might show the car as having an open recall, or a "recall alert" (something of the sort). You could also occasionally log into, https://www.ford.com/support/ .

As yet another means, you can post your VIN once in a while at this site: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

For those able to do so, Owners can confirm serial numbers themselves, with the information in Post # 16.

I see this on the Ford email stating:
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on August 26th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S49.

Why the heck Ford would reply to wait till August 26th? Everyone who has Mustang maybe in danger to an accident!

I checked my knuckles today and what a pain in the ass to see the serial numbers. To get a good look at the numbers with the cell phone, I had to take off the caliper. The caliper is held in with the longest caliper bolts I've ever seen, about 4"s long. Putting the caliper back on, I had to use the pad spreader tool to get the pads over the rotor. My serial numbers are good so far. I wonder why each knuckle is serialized?

From my own experience, I can see any recall going through three phases:

1. Identification and confirmation of the problem. I can't speak to standards (how many failures does it take), but I'm aware there's a discussion between different Ford units, suppliers and the GOV. At some point, they agree a recall is necessary.

2. Determining the scope of the issue. Scouring data to determine the extent of the recall (models, specs, serial numbers, batches), to include overseas units.

3. Making the necessary parts and repair steps available. Re-engineering, producing, testing and certifying replacement parts. Making the necessary amount available. Processes could include not only Ford, but third-party suppliers, their schedules and raw materials availability. To compliment that, all documentation that will assist Techs in what to look for, how to confirm and, if necessary, repair/replace.

All of which takes time.

Along the way, feedback from any number of sources could alter the course initially taken.

I saw it here first and then I looked at Ford Pass and saw that mine is on the list. My dealer also sent an e-mail. Snail mail in my area is slow so I haven’t received a letter from Ford yet. I have an appointment with the dealer on the 23rd of this month.
