What's the purpose of this cover and why can't it be remove and not used ? Not had an oil change yet and not looking forward to any oil drip problem. Will have it done. Do I trust Ford dealer or who ?
Thanks.

I did my first oil change on my new mustang today. The cover is a pain to remove as I donā€™t have a lift and have to lay down on my back. I think the point is for aerodynamics and road noise.

Drive on gravel with the cover and then drive on gravel without the cover and you will hear the difference. You don't want rocks hitting below the vehicle trust me.

It dampens the sound, it protects the metal parts and it's aerodynamic.

I always take to my Ford Dealer Iā€™ve used for over 25 years.
They are aware of the Cover.
Never had any problems with Oil dripping on the Driveway.

I've never had the undertray/s off my GT, but I sure did on my both my Focus RS and the ST before that. Didn't take more than 2 minutes (if that) to pull the screws and drop the tray. Would have been even quicker if I'd had a cordless ratchet instead of the old "armstrong style ratchet"! šŸ˜†

Best of luck when you do yours!

PS: Ask you neighbor if you can borrow their driveway for the job. That way if **** goes south; at least it won't be in your driveway! šŸ˜‰šŸ˜†
