Several hundred miles now and gotten used to its performance and features. I've owned a Terminator, 2017 Roush, and a 2010 750 HP Shelby. I reached the stage (age) that a manual transmission was fun but getting less practical. Jockeying into a tight garage was losing its appeal.
I looked for an automatic 18-20 GT to supercharge but found none. Began looking for automatic Mach 1 and found none I'd pay the price they wanted. After being at a dealer that had a Mach 1, I test drove a black GT premium and decided that I'd like a 24. They found me a Vapor Blue premium automatic, 3:55, and active exhaust.
Went to a car show today, entered as not to be judged as I now only want to mingle, talk, and admire other cars. I parked between a Shelby and a Mach 1. Thought I might have some feelings of remorse but no. Very happy with remote start revs, active exhaust, projection pony, memory seat, (you'll like it one day) etc. Plenty of power and getting into the garage is a breeze.

I bought my 2024 for the same reason. I had two Shelby's and four BULLITTS. I got tired of the stick shift. The A-10 is so smooth and there's no way you can shift a manual as fast. If you want control, use the paddles! Honestly, many of the manual transmissions do not work very well. Yes, some are smooth but many are rough. It's the luck of the draw. I don't care what your age happens to be but if you drive in a high traffic area, the stick is miserable, and clutches aren't cheap.
As they say, work smarter, not harder to get to where you are going!

You two have me beat save for age (84 here!). Having driven my well-tuned 2019 Ranger with the 10R80 for nearly 5 years, I wouldn't even think of getting a row-it-yourself tranny! Would I like to to have paddle shifters for my Eco-Boost? I said yes the first week or so, but once I figured out that Ford has outdone themselves developing the fuzzy logic for the Mustang's 10R80, I don't miss the ability to select my own.

If I had a wish, it would be a source of a larger intercooler. Although it has been in the 80s a couple of times since I bought my Eco-Boost, that is a far cry from 105° or more during the deep Summer here in Roswell, NM. A larger intercooler would allow (a bit more) for the added ambient. At least it certainly did for my Ranger's setup.

If you want to know how fast the 10R80 can shift, use Drag mode!! That 1-2 and 2-3 shifts will jar your teeth into believing!

If you just want to use the GT for Grand Touring on weekends and trips, and not take it to the drag strip, can’t beat the 6-speed. Nothing sounds better than a V8 manual.

Well its great you found a car you like. I just look at things differently I to am old and retired. My Dark Horse is not a daily driver it's my go out and drive some twisty roads car. It is a six speed and has a whipple supercharger and I love rowing gears. My only question is if your having problems parking in your garage with a manual possibly there are other issues afoot? Enjoy your car and don't listen to people like me, just drive the wheels off.

I'm going to drive a manual until I can't no more. Because then if already haven't you'll wish you could.

It goes beyond shifting fast. The gear ratio in the 6 speed isn`t setup for numbers.

But in the end who cares which is faster? The roads are now being populated with fast EVs.

Personally I like the auto because its easier to deal with everyday and still offers enough fun. But it being faster than a manual isn`t why I would get one.

That' awesome!!! I turn 66 in February and the wife and I decided to get back into a manual with our new 2024 DH. We also plan to do a few track days. You are never too old to enjoy!!!

I'm 49 and wanted to get back into the manual as well. My 2021 GT was supercharged but was an A10 and it got kinda old going from stoplight to stoplight at mach 6. Loving the manual and recaro seats. I do wish they had memory but I can't have everything I suppose.

I’m also 77.
I ordered our 2024 GT. Feb 19, 401-A, 10 Speed Auto. Atlas Blue. Active Exhaust.
City Traffic & hills take the Fun away from a 6-Speed.
My Clutch leg isn’t what it used to be.
I am very pleased with the 10 speed.
It works perfect. Very fun to drive.
Age & old injuries add up!
I had my Right Knee Replaced.
My Left Knee needs to be replaced but,
I have a titanium rod in my left leg and they have to take the rod out, break my leg and then replace my knee. I’ll just stay with the A-10 automatic.
I’m very grateful for what I have and I love our GT.
The younger generation count your blessings you can still drive a stick shift.

I’m real close to you age-wise and you’re telling Noah about the flood here. A bad back, one old hip replacement, one recent knee replacement and the other knee gave me 6 weeks notice about 4 years ago. It’s propped up on gel shots but sketchy. So I understand.

I’m blessed to have stumbled into 4 Mustangs but turns out that’s one more than I can say grace over. One is a manual and the others are A10s. I struggle every day with which one has to go but in reality it will probably be the manual. I can and do drive it fine for now but that’s probably not sustainable. I’m trying to bone up on my paddle shifting.

The best decision is not always the easiest decision.
Good luck.

Sage advice and I know it’s true.

Maybe it’s a throwback to fun in earlier years, I don’t know. But just when I think I’m ready to do the right thing, I’m not.
