Are those holes for water to drain out? I am not going to cover them
This might help you understand that drainage behind the patch is not a problem.

Passenger side, out of the factory:

See the opportunity to drain behind where the patch is fitted:

If you watched the video, you'd also see that along the bottom edge of the patch, it isn't glued to anything in the middle section - see the liner gap in the photos above!

There are many places for water to run out, and these patches are to stop debris being flung off the tyres and directly into the void.

You should check the other thread on this forum. I communicated with the Ford aerodynamic engineer on the S650 as well as his boss (thru one of our engineers). They said it was perfectly fine to close these. They are there to facilitate the manufacturing process. No, there is no plan to close them (from the factory) in the future.

Depending on what my dealer does or doesn't do at pre-delivery with this - I might try some sort of plate backing (layers of 2L Milk bottle Plastic?) with some "Grunt" Flashing Tape ($8) at Bunnings:
Grunt 50mm x 10m Flashing Tape - Bunnings Australia $8 Aisle 7 Bay 18 & 8.

"* All Purpose Waterproof Sealing Tape * Bituminous Backed Aluminium Tape * Gives an Instant Weatherproof Seal

* Ideal for New Work or Emergency Repairs * Adheres Permanently to Clean, Dry Surfaces

GRUNT Self Adhesive Flashing Tape is waterproof and self-adhesive with bituminous coating compound. It can bond securely to clean and dry building materials when correctly applied. Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free to debris. Apply firmly by hand or with a roller can help the product adhere uniformly across the surface. Temperature resistance -20°C / +90°C"

You could start a GoFundMe campaign for a DIYVan patch kit? :giggle:

Out of interest, and thinking forward to my own creative solutions, can anyone tell me the dimensions of the holes?
