Regret?

Not only do I have no regrets, I am so glad I decided to pull the trigger on a 24. Waiting would have been 10% more money and less options I want. Absolutely love the car!

I really need to remember this about my 24, so thanks for pointing it out. I actually saved $10k+ when all was said and done, between the actual price difference from 24 to 25 from Ford, and the dealer discounts that I got. Also, I don't have the Auto Stop/Start thing (thankfully!), and I still have magnetic charging, which isn't available on the 25. Overall, better to buy the 24 now than wait (though that doesn't change the slight regret I have with the 2024 vs. my original 2007).

That's how I feel, just don't feel like mine. It takes years to tune and customize the car and tuning the 24 is out of the picture right now. It just doesn't feel like it's me. People used to look at my S550 and say that's so you.

This is it, right here. I just felt like my 2007 was "me" in a way that this 2024 isn't. It was a fairly unique color that I loved, it stood out a little, it was sporty and fun but not "too much," and it was just... comfy, for lack of a better word. I didn't plan on customizing much or tuning or things like that on the 24; I didn't need to or want to on my other car, because it was perfect as it was. I guess I may have to adjust plans for the 24 at some point, idk. (And my husband is just shaking his head at me, because he knew it would be like this...)

Do I regret buying the car? Absolutely not. It's a blast and makes me smile every time I press the gas pedal. It's the kind of car that makes you want to drive it as much as possible.

However, I do regret some of the options I left off. Knowing what I know now, I would have added the upgraded brake package and ordered a manual instead of the automatic. Nothing against the automatic, it's actually great, but I think I would have enjoyed a manual more.

The only thing that I regret is the monthly payment. I traded my 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis for my 2024 GT Premium. I went from a 4 door automatic sedan to a 2 door manual sport coupe. I went from having a trunk large enough to drop bodies in to a trunk large enough for my needs. I went from a huge backseat that rarely got used to a backseat that is not meant to be used.

I fully intended on keeping my Merc for a few more years, as it had less than 100K on it, but the rust and other mechanical issues were starting to pile up. I've always wanted a Mustang, I can now afford a Mustang, and the dealer just happened to have one that met my wants: 2024 GT Premium with the 401A package. While it would have been nice to have the magnaride suspension and active exhaust, I don't plan on tracking the car. It is my daily driver when I am not on my motorcycle.

I had a 19 & 22 S550. My only regret in getting my S650 is not getting the 3.55 I hate this 3.15 but this is something that can be changed out in time. I love the lines of the S650 and new tech.

Perhaps that is your disconnect? Tuning. You need to bide your time. The S650 will be tunable (I speculate in about a year or so) and once that happens the ram air effect of those dual air intakes will make it an n/a monster. Then everyone is going to clamoring for one, mark my words on that.

As far as the interior goes, I get that people like knobs, switches and gauges. I do too but only to a point. I was seriously considering the '19 Bullitt until I sat in one. For me it was way too busy with knobs, switches and gauges and too far removed from the classics and dated. My '09 does a better job representing the oldies.

That said, I get this a very personal thing, but I also think I am spoiled. Who here remembers the introduction of the digital display in the C4's? I LOVED it! I thought it was the coolest thing on the planet. Although, I saw the fictional tech in KITT first, the C4 made it an accessible reality. I wanted one sooooo bad.

Well, I can finally say I have one. Honestly, in some ways, I think the C4 did it better, but it is here in my hands today, nonetheless. I love the clean and simplified look of the S650 interior but I know it's not for everyone... now. But like it or not it is the path moving forward and I am all in for it.

So, while you may feel some regret now, my guess is you will feel a lot more regret later if you're hasty with your decisions.

I will admit it's mostly about looks for me. Like RebelMan (I think) I went from a S197 to the Dark Horse. My S197 has very few stock parts still on it. The suspension was done first. Anyway, the Dark Horse represented the best looking Mustang I have seen in a while plus the suspension is already there. I do think the interior could be a little more sporty. That's my only real negative, I would like a GT500 looking interior or something. Besides new wheels I will not modify the car unless Ford releases a tune. The coyote tremec combo is my favorite part along with looks and handling.

My only regret is buying it within the first few hours of seeing it. I had no idea about the different plans (i.e. X-Plan, A-Z, etc.), as well as, I didn't look around at nearby dealerships to see if I could get a better deal (although I DID NOT pay any dealer markups, but also, got less than $1,000 off of sticker :/) Before buying it, I was more focused on a Toyota Supra (A91), BMW M340i xDrive (G21 LCI), Audi S3 (8Y), and Audi RS3 (8Y). So, I hadn't even originally considered the S650!

The point is, I didn't take the time to customize one to my liking. Instead, I got something that was essentially fully spec'd and fell in love with things I didn't think I cared for or wanted originally (i.e. the 'red' seats and the Sinister Bronze package). Don't get me wrong, I love my S650. However, originally, I had pictured myself getting a Mustang in Grabber Blue, with the following choices in case I didn't like it or could not get the color, in this order: Dark Gray Metallic, Oxford White, Vapor Blue, or Blue Ember Metallic.

A few modifications were made to it over the years, personalizing it and we drove it all over the eastern half of US. In 2017 she decided to retire leaving us with 4 vehicles, one more than we needed. It was the logical thing to do, yet not what she wanted to do, but we sold her GT. Knowing this was a crappy outcome, I promised to get another one someday. In early 2023, we saw a YouTube video on the 2024 mustang. She looked at me, I looked at her and said, we're getting one. As I was all set to get the DH, she reminded me of my promise and I relented. She picked out the Vert, loaded, this time in Rapid Red. We ordered it in March 2023 as soon as the order banks opened and took delivery in Sep 2023. She loves the car, still misses the 2006 a lot, but believes the 2024 is a good replacement.

As much as I love my Shelby....I have owned several convertibles in the past......and when the weather is just right- driving at night with the top down on the right road..... they may not perform like a Dark Horse ....but there is something about the experience a convertible provides that can not be matched by any coupe....

There is nothing in the car world to compare to a drive with the top down, engine roaring, rowing your own gears, on a beautiful summer night. It's a joy!

No regrets at all here. I absolutely love my GT Convertible. But this is my first Mustang so I don't have much to compare to. But to me it has exceeded all my expectations. I totally love it.

As much as I love my Shelby....I have owned several convertibles in the past......and when the weather is just right- driving at night with the top down on the right road..... they may not perform like a Dark Horse ....but there is something about the experience a convertible provides that can not be matched by any coupe....

Yea, the vert is nice and has it benefits. I'm a coupe kinda guy and just love how the new 650's look in coupe style, the lines and hips on it are just right.
