I am used to a 4-cyl turbo, so anything above 2,500 rpm I can get a good kick without downshifting.
The naturally aspirated 5.0 L Coyote will not behave the same way. I'll be doing a lot of manual downshifting to get the same kind of kick. What is the power band?

Outside of the powerband probably still almost as fast as a stock WRX in its powerband

Oh they’re SIGNIFICANTLY faster than a stock WRX lol

this is also why you want a 10 speed car. The pairing of the high revving coyote slapping through gears 2/3/4/5/6 is so dam fast and efficient

I'm old school. I LIKE manually shifting thru the gears. The WRX produces 270 HP which is pretty good for a car weighing in at 3,200 lbs. while the Mustang produces 486 HP (AVE) and weighs 3,800 lbs.
Here is a Dyno of the WRX stock engine:

This is splitting hairs, but remember the WRX has the additional drag from the center and front differentials, whereas the Mustang is only driving the rear diff. WRX has AWD advantage from a dig, but if you’re talking seat of the pants feel from a roll, the additional drag of AWD is probably more noticeable.

I’m old school as well, and prefer a manual transmission for my sports cars. My friend likes to tease that autos are faster, but there’s always someone faster on the street, so I have no qualms with my manual preference. There will be plenty of time for the automatic transmission driving experience once EVs are mandated.

The great thing about the Mustang is there’s a choice for both transmission enthusiasts 🙂.
