They ordered the wrong tire. Both are the same number. One has the rim protector and one doesn’t they ordered it from
pirelli today I’ll have it by Friday or Monday.
That’s good to know. I wonder if this is an option for most tires. I would rather the extra protection for sure.

I doubt the rim protector will affect the way it drives. Tread depth difference far more likely. Warm up that limited slip diff nicely

So what Greg is getting at, and the others that mentioned tires in pairs... Limited slip or locker type differential want to see same circumference tire so that your not creating any sort of uneven rotation or friction in any of the internals AT ALL TIMES even driving straight down the highway. Any diff except a spool would open to allow uneven rotation in a turn, but you'd be creating unnecessary wear with mismatched tires. You could get away with an open diff, but you'd still be making that diff do extra work

It varies by car and LSD to a certain extent but I remember the Volvo 850R would eat it's diffs if the tyres were different.

The same thing happened to me, nail in right rear Pirelli. Replaced with 'same tire'. Noticed pretty significant pulling to left and right depending on acceleration or decel.
I can't confirm what exactly was different about the tire, but the tire shop did tell me the two rear tires had different tread patterns even though they should have been the same.
Shop refunded me for the wrong tire and I ended up just replacing both rear tires to some Nittos.

FWIW There is a new P Zero out, the PZ5. I have PZ4's on mine as factory fit.
Apparently the 5 is a big improvement.
Check out YT Tyre Reviews.

My new 2025 PP car has teh tires with the fat rim guard. I noticed that right away. I like it! Good to know that we have to be specific when ordering.
