I always thought you were supposed to look over your shoulder when you drive in reverse unless you’re in a truck or towing a trailer

Normally, my side mirrors cover the blind spots. When something disappears from the rear view, I see it in the side view. When it's out of the side view, it's in my peripheral vision. This has them angled pretty far outward.

If the mirrors are angled down and in, so you can just barely see the side of the car and the ground, you can better gauge your distance from the wheel to the curb. With both mirrors down and in, it's also good for judging alignment when backing in to tight spaces, like a garage.

I only use the backup camera for gauging when to stop.

If the mirrors were larger, it'd be less of an issue. With the huge (manual) mirrors on my Ranger, I don't need them down and in. There's enough realestate in the mirror surface to get everything I need.

I wasn't discounting anyone's opinion. I was just saying that, if all the things in these posts saying, "Ford is stupid/greedy for not including (insert pet peeve here) on a car I paid $XX,XXX for" were actually implemented, the vehicle would cost another $20K. They have to draw the line somewhere.

Exactly and I agree with you. If this was included, then there would be “something” else and a thorn in their side. It never fails!!!

The list on my 24 GT Vert was just over 59K. (Not what I paid) How on Gods green Earth does it not have a forward facing camera and external downward pointing mirrors, when in reverse. IMHO, they are necessities. I don't often have to parallel park, but when I do, I don't want to be concerned about my rims hitting a curb. When I had my Z I had to parallel park, when I was visiting someone. There was a snow covered rock next to the curb, that put a nice gouge in the edge of my rim. Yes, the Z didn't have downward pointing mirrors, when in reverse. But it was only 34K. I would think at almost twice that price that those two items could have been included. That's why I want them now. Thanks to CarGuyBill's suggestion, I have the next best thing for one of them. Glenn

if you guys really wanna add reverse tilting mirrors, you can. the only catch is that its not designed for the US Mustang mirrors and will tilt down to the stop then start skipping. with FORScan, go into the APIM and change this (link). then find the option (i think its in driver assists under features?) and enable it. then, when in reverse and a mirror selected like you are going to adjust it, it will tilt down. i tried adding it and gave up on it. i dont remember how well it works when going back to the last position
