That's a beauty. Looks just like mine. I really like the look of the premium aluminum wheels with the shadow black. Makes them really pop against the dark background.

I know for me one of the main reason I went black is I like the black convertible top to match the paint. I just think it looks better and more cohesive.
I agree, that the matching top color makes it look "better together".

Black is the best…..but it requires a commitment that I am unwilling to make at this stage of my life. Having owned 2 black Lincolns and 1 black Genesis G80 and a black Grand Cherokee, I’m done with black. Now when I was shopping for the S650, I came very close to driving off with a black one. Then I found a Vapor Blue with Bronze Pkg and red Brembos. The deal was sealed. The blue is easier to care for, which frees up time to spend cleaning the Brembo brake dust off the bronze wheels.

Beautiful car!

Iā€˜m totally with you on the black. (See my pic a couple posts up.) And I also have the luxury of it not being a DD so taking care of it isn’t a problem either.

You might want to consider my ā€œwashingā€ protocol. I use two products only:

Like you, my car never sees rain. And I de-bug the front after every ride. After ~1,000 miles since June it has never seen a single drop of water and if I’m lucky it never will. Frankly I have some physical challenges that would make a traditional wash slow, difficult and painful for me so this is it for all of my cars. Totally waterless.

Now before the bleachers fill up with naysayers, and I know it’s coming, there’s not a single scratch or swirl on my black car from this even under very bright high lumen LED stand lighting. You just have to YouTube up a bit on the correct procedure and use common sense. Use lots of product and don’t skimp on the towels. I’d recommend only using this towel or the TRC Eagle Edgeless 350 if you prefer a little lighter towel. If like my wife it makes your wife unhappy for you to use the laundry machines, just throw the towels away when they get dirty. Yeah, it’s a $5.00 towel ($3.90 if you buy a case) but still cheaper than the detailing you’re talking about. And your car never leaves your sight.

Good luck and enjoy your beautiful car!
I've had my mustang a little over a year now. I do wash it with water, but I've used Gyeon Wet Coat about 3 times now (about every 5-6 months). After applying it, I usually only have to damp cloth or mist the car to remove dust and bugs for the next 3-4 months. Brings it back to a beautiful shine. The black wheels are its Achille's heal, what a PITA to keep clean, especially the multi-spoke & multi-surface wheels that I have.

Ok, black is out, vapor blue or carbonized gray. Found a vapor but has 5 spoke wheels I don't like. Also found carbonized gray with painted wheels I like.
Love my Vapor Blue. It's really forgiving with the dust, as it's a color shade shifter.

I found locally a GT premium, 401A, auto, 3:55 gears, active exhaust, and B&O. All the things I want but it is black. I've never owned a black car and scared to spend this much money on a color I might end up hating. Any consolation ?
Black cars are not the boogeyman people always seem to make it out to be.

Let me ask you this...are you going to be paint correcting, constantly washing and polishing, taking care not to get any kind of swirl marks of any kind, being careful to always hand rub, never use a polisher, etc. Are you going to me constantly doing weekly or even daily shines like I've heard (but never seen) some folks say they do? AKA, are you going to be entering this car into car shows to be judged on it's appearance?

OR, are you just planning on on driving the car and you will see it every time you walk up to it?

If it's the second, black cars are nothing to be scared of. In fact, you can do a lot more with a black car than than you can with most others.

I had a black car for 6 years before it was rear ended and totaled. Loved seeing it every day and I did NOT obsess about caring for it the way some folks do. Since that time, I've had a medium blue car, a green truck, and a Carbon Black car (looks black from a distance, but when you get close, you see shades of deep purple). My wife has had 2 blue cars and a charcoal gray car.

We live in the snow/rust belt and we get a LOT of salt on the roads. I've yet to see any car look good after a drive. They all showed salt, they all showed some swirls after waxing, they all show dirt and dust. They could all be polished to that mirror finish as it's the clearcoat, not the color that gives it that.

Do not let the fact that it is black discourage you because you will be afraid it will show dirt easier..

That said, if this is a long term car for you, get it the way you want in the color you want. My wife STILL teases me about spending 4 hours looking at 2 cars side by side at the dealership on a sunday...one black one green, trying to decide which c olor I wanted. While I opted for black in the end, I would have been very happy with the green T-Bird. By FAR, the more important choices were the equipment packages, Engine package, Sport package, etc. Those were must haves, the paint was a nice to have for me...but you do you.

Bull. black car = full time job. unless you just don't care what your car looks like. most of us don't fall into that category

I believe the black is metallic and not gloss black so IMO a better choice that gloss and hides more.

having owned many black cars including 2 Grand Nationals, nothing looks as good as a clean black car. But it doesn't last long. 15 mins later it is starting to show dust. By the next day it's time to wash it again. A black car is a full time job. Buy the car you like and get some different wheels, not a big deal.
can't you just go fast enough so the dust blows off!!
