Just got to reading the techs final notes. Turns out my wind shutter noise was a loose sideskirt and underbody panel as it wasn't installed properly, which makes sense of why it was a shuttering noise with the wind and got louder with speed. Going to attach an image of the notes. Drove it about 70 Miles just now, all is nice and quiet!

You've got a gem of a dealer.
Glad you have it fixed.

Excellent documentation of complaint cause andcorrection, that would warm any warranty administrators heart. He flagged almost 11 hours and that's how you get paid by documenting everything correctly.

Got the DIYVan Kit ordered, meant to do it friday but spaced it. As of right now, no loud raddles or issues. still have the small metallic rattle on driver's side dash but it's very situational so no biggie in my book. very pleased!

that is a wonderful story the tech wrote out! almost no misspellings, proper grammar (for a tech story), and bonus points for using "expunged". maybe i should show this to some of the techs i work with lol. based on the SLTS operation numbers, looks like he accessed items behind the dash, accessed items under the center console, and used wireless electronic chassis ears to diagnose a non-rotational noise, like the story says. as steveo1960 said, you found a gem of a dealer there

They are extremely well known on both business side and service side for being one of the best ford dealers in Indiana. It's the whole reason I drove over an hour to order my car from them, because I know they can be trusted and they stand by keeping their name clean and true. Finders crossed I don't encounter any other issues, but if I do, it'll go straight to them. Sad the dealer that's 4 minutes away isn't as good in either category and they know it, but don't care.

Years back, the dealer 4 minutes away was owned by one of the guys that helped start the big one I bought from, he eventually started his own in my town and it was just as good. A few years back he retired and none of his kids wanted to take over so it got bought out by someone else, kind of sad the new owners let the reputation of that place fall through.

i know how that feels. there used to be a dealer near me that did really good work, but then some person from corporate drove the service director away some years ago and many of his techs followed. they are now all at the dealer i work at (before i worked there) and we get many of that old dealers' customers in saying they've had enough. i drive right by that other dealer every day and go double the distance to work where i do

i wish our sales department was better, though. a couple weeks ago we got our first F-150 with the pro access tailgate. it came in friday and was not going to be PDI'd until monday. one salesperson decided to sell it 2 hours after it came in, an hour after i went home. no PDI or anything and it was not until at least a week later that i got him to get his customer in so the vehicle could be PDI'd proper. so frustrating, and that's saying nothing about what they do to customers. "corporate required" etch getting skipped, salespeople saying that vehicles that just came in (as in literally within the hour) already having the standard issue add-ons (tint, nitro, door edge guards, some upholstery protection that i am sure is never actually applied), and the time when i was waiting on my Mach 1 when i asked my salesperson to remove the add-ons and he tried to strongarm me into accepting them because the F-150 he bought recently at the time had them (even though he bought a stock unit)

It is sad that's how the game is played now at most places. "What can we get away with not doing and still get paid" kind of things. It's a dirty thing to do but they can get away with it because the day and age that most people buying a new car off of a lot having some common sense on what to look for, is gone. This isn't exclusive to car dealers though; a lot of industries are trying to get as much money out of doing the least they can without being caught.

I did make sure my car was put aside as soon as the PDI was done with 0 extra being done to it until I got there to supervise the rest of the process essentially. But again, this dealer rocks and they didn't try to sell me anything extra and even asked if I wanted the dealer sticker before sticking it on, which I said no to obviously. I know a lot of people who have bought from them and even 2 people who bought from them out of state because they can be trusted.

Dealer is, Ray Skillman Ford of Greenwood. Greenwood Indiana. Highly Highly recommend them peeps!

I made the mistake of not knowing that my GT PP was supposed to have the underbody strakes as they weren't put on during PDI and now it's way too late to try and get them from the dealer. Not a huge deal because they aren't an important thing needed but would have been nice to have them as I paid for them. I could have caused this by being a little anxious to take delivery as it wasn't supposed to be ready until Monday, but they squeezed it in on that Friday morning right after the truck dropped it off to them.

Been just over a week since I picked the car up and about 300 miles driven. I have unfortunately developed a new metallic rattle that is pretty well consistent no matter what surface I'm on or speed. This time on the driver's side dash near the A pillar. Should I take it back in or just deal with it this time? This would be the 6th time I would have the car in service for rattles unfortunately. Not knocking the car because I love the car, I just hate the rattles and almost feel bad for continuously taking it in it feels like.

You've taken the car in every ~50 miles for NVH issues? Yikes. I haven't had one. Sorry to hear that.

Take it back, I've got a little over 2k miles, not a single rattle. You need to experience a rattle free drive, it's glorious, haha.

My phone did not pair for some reason this am, so I drove to work in silence and see that I have the same dash noise as described by the OP. In 6 mo and 4K miles, I never heard it, and am not going to worry about it now.
Yes these are problems, yes you are entitled to have them fixed, but at some point you have to ask yourself if the juice is worth the squeeze.

No I've had the car in 5 times now since August '23 and 7,000 miles for NVH issues. Now possibly a 6th time.

Still testing, but.... I think I found the new noise. When I picked it up a little over a week ago, they mentioned rocks and shit in the wheel well holes, they cleaned them all out for me as well. So I bought some T-Rex tape to tape the holes while I wait on the DIYVan kit to arrive. Fast forward to Friday, I drove down a few gravel roads and then the noise began while driving nearly any speed on any surface. It sounded like it was coming from A Pilar/dash area, metallic wind shuttering noise. Fast forward again to last night, after I finished mowing I was walking in the garage and looked over, noticing the tape I had over the holes was hanging down on the bottom side of the car and looked awful, so I tore it off, and to my surprise, the power of the T-Rex tape had snatched up and had about a dozen little stones stuck to it. Shortly there after I left for work and noticed the noise was gone, and then just now I drove about a half hour all different ways to see if the noise was able to be replicated, in which it wasn't. Soooo, I believe the tape had been flapping in the wind whilst battering the metal underbody with its collection of pebbles, making the metallic rattle/shuttering noise. Not fully convinced but seeing as how it's gone now and the only thing changed was the removal of the tape, there's a good chance it was simple 😅
