Hello all.

Hope this is the right place for this.

I noticed today that I have a paint chip on the corner of my trunk. Both the trunk and the car are chipped.
It's the tip of the trunk, right where the bottom of the rear glass ends.
The trunk ends in a tip shape.

I looked and the other side seems to have a bigger gap so i wondered if i could adjust this.
I'm guessing it can be done, but i've never felt right about unscrewing any of those panels bolts as they are painted.

Can i just loosen that side and ever so slightly nudge it so equal the other side?

If I were you, I'd take it to the dealer and show them. It's under warranty and you might be able to get that chipped paint covered under warranty for misalignment.

I'm already doing touch-up layers... That's all they would do too anyway. I woudn't want them to repaint for this.
Pretty sure i can fix the alignment but want to hear from others before i touch that.

realigned my cousin's 2022 Mach following the YouTube video which shows how. took less than 10 mins two of us being careful to move the trunk lid slowly after loosening 2 screws then touching up the rubbed off paint. I discovered the same issue on my 2004 GT prior to taking delivery so the dealer repaired it. if the rubbing is down to bare metal I would have the dealer repair and so it's on record.

I did loosen the mounting bolts and moved them as far as i could but it was already at the end so my gain was minimal. Still enough to leave it alone but not perfect.

I always bring the trunk down from the middle but i think someone closed it from a corner.
Saw a video last night showing how that can warp it slightly and the corner will come in contact momentarily. Guess that's what happened and if so, it shouldn't happen again.

attended a recent cruise in. nearly every S550 and 650 (a handful) had paint wear on the trunk lid and where it contacts the body. interestingly all on the right side. some down to bare metal!

My 2014 SHO did this at the rear of the trunk. It would rub against the fender. In the parking lot at work almost every 13-14 Taurus had the same issue.

So trying to not start a whole new thread. Was installing a new spoiler, and noticed an uneven line on passenger side afterwards. I know about the rubber standoffs where you can move them in and out to adjust. But is there anything else to use for alignment/adjustment of the decklid? Drivers side is close, maybe a little low, and passenger side is definitely higher than line of rear quarter panel. I've maxed out adjustment of standoffs so that doesn't help.
