Does anybody know how to turn off the different light effects when unlocking the car?
I disabled "Welcome lights" and still when I open the door directly, exterior lights are flashing and do all kind of stupid stuff which is perfect for distracting others, especially the flashing headlamps make others think I wanna greet or they did something wrong.

in the SNYC menu, go to settings > vehicle > lighting and there should be an option to disable welcome lighting

While several other vehicles have puddle lighting, for some reason the Mustang gets all of the credits. Perhaps it's the depiction of a Pony, which like others, I think its distinctive. As for all of the blinking lights, I think other folks, like you, have a minor case of selaphobia?

As a side light... I wonder how long it is going to be, before puddle lighting turns into a programable video?

It would seem you have to use the manual key to prevent the lights from illuminating?

I can't remember if there's a distinction in the welcome lighting between 1) toggling the button on the fob to unlock vs. 2) touching the door handle with one hand while holding the fob with the other.

From Page 98 of the Owner's Manual

SWITCHING WELCOME LIGHTING
ON AND OFF

Welcome lighting turns on the exterior
lamps when you approach your vehicle
with an authenticated device.

1. Press Settings on the touchscreen.
2. Press Vehicle.
3. Press Lighting.
4. Switch Welcome Lighting on or off.

Note: Welcome lighting still displays when
you use your remote control to unlock your
vehicle.

It's not about me, it is about other people around who think I flash headlights in order to greet or warn about something.

@Skye as written in my OP, I already switched that option off in the settings.

Maybe via Forscan?

This is a link to the ForsCAN thread.

As part of the first post, there is a link to a public spreadsheet. I opened that, and did a search for "puddle". The results do reference settings to disable those. At least that looks promising.

I didn't study it much more than that.

There was a UK Member asking the same question of the Welcome lighting, in another thread; the question was left unanswered.

Good Luck.

Thanks for your effort.
Puddle lights are not my concern (although I wish they'd just behave like on Gen6 when the door is opened).
Found another thing in the Forscan-list: Approach_Lighting. Maybe that includes the general animation of the welcome light, I might give it a try.

Set the Welcome light style to a number that is not 2 (Dark Horse style) and not 3 (GT style) and that should disable the Welcome light completely.

I tried every value and unfortunately none except 2 and 3 have the lights on at all.
Was hoping to get just a satic light for the same duration values 2 and 3 keep the lights on. :(
So I stick to 3 as default which is at least less aggressive than the DH (2).
