It's your money and your car but be aware, you would be the laughing stock of the car community and the internet as a whole. Fairly confident someone would make a meme out of your car eventually.

I think that you all are missing the point of what I was asking. I already stating that I think that it looks stupid. I was asking more about the functionality of it and if anyone actually had it installed on their car. When the door is closed, it looks like any other car. The door on these cars are long and getting in and out of them can be challenging in tight parking spaces without dinging up your paint. I have not installed them, and have only thought about installing them for the right parking reason only.

Again, I agree that they look stupid, but I believe that there is a practical application/use over the looks of it. I also am not interested in participating in car shows/meets etc. I just don't like people enough for all of that, lol.

I understood your point. They may objectively help in tight parking spaces but I don't think they are worth the social embarrassment. If I was passenger in your car with these installed, I would wear a bag over my head to hide my face. They really are that bad.

I think the best solution for the problem you are trying to solve is simply park away from other cars.

EDIT: I know these have to open outward a bit before they can rotate upward. You could call the manufacturer and ask how far they swing out before going up and see if that is of any real benefit.

Lol, how many times have you parked in the farthest parking spot from the door where there are no cars within 20 spaces to come out and find every spot around you occupied by the crappiest jolopies in town.

Also I have never been one to really care about someone else's opinion. Was looking for real world "good, bad and ugly" on the product itself.

Not sure if you saw my added comment on my last post.

HAH! I was in my Raptor waiting for my wife to finish up buying one of everything at some store in Virginia. Guy in a peasant-mobile bmw - 3 series, m3, whatever... pulls in and parks right next to me, throws open his door...

Right into the Raptor’s running board. As Bugs would say: “What a Maroon”. He looks at me and complains about what I did to his car. :-/

Thanks, no I didn't see your edit. I am aware that there is an outward swing prior to lifting. I will take you up on that advice, I suspect that the opening is about 12 inches prior to the vertical movement.

I'm in my 60's 6' 2" 250 lbs I feel your pain I have to be careful where I park so I can open the door all the way oh I also have Recaros. Sucks getting old. I get in the car like a lady wearing a mini skirt LoL

Here’s another goofy door idea for tight spaces. A power sliding door, ( minivan style) or a pocket door set up( delivery truck style). 🤔

Getting old does suck. I am only in my mid 40's, however 23+ years in the Army have taken it's toll on my body and I feel like I am on my 60's some days. Hence the appeal to this door option. I didn't opt for the recardos for 2 reasons, first I wanted the heat/AC option on the seats, second is actually getting in and out of the damn things. I finally acknowledged a few years ago that I was not going to get any younger, nor was I as agile as I once was.

Here are a few things to consider...

1. Possible insurance coverage issues should an accident occur.
2. The odds of a roll over (upside down) accident are slim but.... Better hope it never happens and you want to exit the vehicle... because you won't be able to (easily).
3. Roll over + fire = possible death!
Edit add - 4. Yes, you can break the window if you're able.
