I've seen other people do this to automatic cars and wanted to know why they do it. Is it not awkward when someone asks you if it's stick shift?

I don't get offended, I'm genuinely curious as well.
I didn't like the factory shifter, I had the knob on my S550, didn't like the PRNDM lettering prefer a clean look and it's only a weekend car and nobody ever gets in it other than my wife once in a while.

Why do you want to make it look like it has a manual transmission?

I have an auto and wouldn’t mind putting something like this on. To be honest, the factory knob looks and feels like cheap plastic.

Your part number will vary depending on color of your stitching.

@Stangerous - So that's the boot and trim for the manual trans and it swaps put no problem on the AT, with the only difference being the missing lettering?

Hope that silver piece comes off without wrecking the boot.

These are all the manual Shift Boot/Trim piece that will not have the PRNDM
you just need to match the stitching to your interior

I love the titanium knob but be forewarned: it will get hot when your car sits in the sun! I aimed the AC vent (the one on the right in my pic) right at it - it cools down reasonably quick.

Probably gonna figure out a way to cover it with something. No, not a hoodie ...

I ordered the Indigo Blue for the DH. $37 plus tax and no shipping charge (local pickup - I drive by Varsity Ford in AA 3 days a week).

Correct! And yes, the silver piece is easily removable and there will still be a “bushing” type ring for the clean fit.

I tried it, it negates some of the scolding sensation but where I live it is gonna get hot regardless unless it’s garage kept. Unfortunately mine is not, it sits under a car cover for a week or more at a time. I’d like to find a leather wrapped one, maybe that would be better?

Yes they get a little toasty in the sun, recommend covering it or do what roadpilot said and aim the ac vent at it.
