i can basically promise that there was no chance mismatching seats got denied coverage. i dont remember the timeframe, but if it was discovered and an RO opened within X days from the vehicle being delivered, Ford will cover it as "misbuilt", which goes through the warranty channels. if they didnt report it in time, it may have gotten denied, but i think the bigger issue at that point is what else has been missed on new vehicles

Anomalies happen, unless investigation is completed each (Schrödinger's) cat wouldn’t know if the trap has been sprung.

Ford is one of the worst for warranty denial.
I worked for them as a tech 15 years ago. It was bad back then and has only gotten worse since. I have a good friend who is now a service manager for one of the largest dealers here in southern Maryland and the horror stories he tells me about trying to get some claims approved is appalling. I own a lot of Ford products, all but 2 of them are out of their warranty period. The good news is most of them have never needed much more than normal maintenance.

Side note when I was a tech, most of the warranty issues were self inflicted by the owner/operator and I still tried to get the repairs covered where I could anyhow. I worked for them during the 6.0 days and was the lead(only) diesel tech in the shop. The trucks where the owners left them alone and just worked them as intended were the ones that had no issues. The ones that were driveway queens (I've never used except on Sunday to take the trash to the dump 3 miles away) had turbo issues, injector issues and EGR issues. The ones that were tuned had head gasket issues before ARP developed a stud kit for them.

@smurfslayer @MAT1955 admittedly, what i said is how things should go (and i have edited my message to reflect that now), but some dealers are definitely dirtier than others about it
Exactly right. The dealership uses discretion a lot of times and sometimes they abuse discretion. Once I start throwing bolt-ons at a vehicle, I’ll usually declare up front - “I’ve got mods, I know full well I own any problem caused by the mods, I don’t think they’ll interfere with this, are we good?”

I try to be a bit more friendly than that, but if they get queasy, make faces, or otherwise don’t give me confidence, I offer to go elsewhere - again, not rudely.

Nobody likes dealing with “that customer” so I find it helps not to imitate “that customer”. Not always, but it’s worth a shot being nice up front.

Once it starts going south though, best to move on to another shop a lot of times.

Rails? There were rails?

Are you referring to FoMoCo, or the Ford dealerships you’ve interacted with?

The previous owner removed the carbon traps and damaged the tubes. Fortunately, I bought the car from Carmax with a 90-day warranty. They are replacing the air intake tubes with carbon traps next week. I don't need extra HP and didn't want Ford to say I had modifications.

I found zero gains at the track by removing them, you hear the electronic throttle body a hair more.

after I did it I was like… well what a waste of time and felt stupid.
I was a big believer that I was removing a restriction and would pick up MPH gains after all the dyno vids I watched promoting that idea

it wasn’t reality
"Hearing the electronic throttle"
Would that be a slight hissing sound?

I’ve not seen anything showing Ford to be any more or less strict about warranty terms enforcement than GM, Dodge, Toyota, etc.

What are you seeing?

You could call it that, I would call it a servo noise for the electronics motor controlling the blades.
It reminds me of Rc car servo sounds.
But the filters not only recapture carbon, but have a muffling affect on the intakes.

I ask because sometimes at low speeds with the radio off, I hear a slight hissing sound when accelerating. I don't have the carbon traps as the prior owner took them out. Carmax is replacing the intakes with traps next week.

I have the traps out and you will hear the blades open creating a hisss whoosh sound. If you take the lids off the filters you hear even more sound and more so if you are running an open intake like the dark horse or the mp concepts grille which has no mesh at all. Depends on the dealer there are a few here who are ford performance, Shelby, Roush, dealers who unless you were a total bonehead will work on cars with most mods and warrantee the car.
