The buying experience with Ford makes one feel like a mushroom.. one is kept in the dark and fed sh**t by the dealerships !!!

:):):):)
I can't believe I'm going to defend Ford here, but it's a similar story with other brands as well. My old boss ordered a Mazda CX-5 and got no information or contact from the dealer or Mazda during the several months he waited for the vehicle. The only time anyone contacted him was when it showed up out of the blue at the dealer and was told come and get it.

It's a tough situation. We are told that cars are the second most expensive purchase we make. It would be nice to think that would mean a special buying experience.

The thing is, each contract signed and order made is just one of countless others within a dealer's and car companies' system each day, week, month, year. For perspective, there are 90,000+ cars sold each month in Australia. That would be a lot of phone calls per week/month informing each and every customer where their car is at, and almost every one of those calls will be "no information at this stage". Unfortunately, you are just another number.

Could it be better in this era of modern inventory and computer tracking? Probably. Do car companies see the need to do this? No, because it means more money needs to be spent when quite often the car is already sold and the buyer on the hook.

And what about special cars like a Mustang? Well, from Ford's point of view, Mustang is just a sideshow to them. Every single overpriced Ranger or Everest they sell makes them considerably more profit than a Mustang ever will. Sad, but that's a volume car company who's sole focus is impressing the shareholders.

Says the man who complained at every moment possible about Ford's poor communication skills.

Dealers certainly prioritise Ranger. When I first tried to purchase a Mustang in early 2022 the dealer threw me the demo keys and said take it for a spin, and then when I came back and wanted to discuss options he said he was too busy selling rangers and I should order through the website.

I tried calling the stock controller at Etheridge directly today, but she was on leave and I got redirected to sales staff. I think that's the go though, try to call the dealership stock controller directly and they'll know exactly what the go is. Most of them have profiles on LinkedIn.

Anyone had a car delivered yet off Carmen?
No, but I got my RAV notification today. I’m told it’s ready to be picked up from Webb dock.
I understand it then goes offsite to be detailed and soon after ready for pick up.
hopefully it’s a week or two. 🤞

How did you get your RAV notification? Who sent it to you?
Were you on Carmen or another ship?
My dealer says it’s 3-5 days from the time it’s picked up from Webb dock so hopefully you get it early next week.

Yes mine was on the Carmen.
This is the website. Just type your VIN and see the day it was approved to be complied as an Australian car.

I’m playing it safe saying a week or two after nearly 2.5 years wait and delays.

Lucky for you :)
We were on the ship a month earlier and still no RAV!
That is so disappointing 😔
Yours was obviously on the Tortugas to Tosca.
Hang in there, it won’t be long. 🙏

Communication thread today from dealer (bottom to top):

OK, that’s good news then. Surely one would think Tortugas cars get cleared next week. Can’t believe it will be 2 months by the time it arrives at JF from the ship arriving into Melb. Bloody unions!
Cheers,
Al

Many from Tosca have been cleared from ours, none from Tortugas yet.

Kind Regards
Jake Southgate | New Vehicle Sales

Thanks for the update mate.

I think you’ll find the Mustangs that have been cleared are from the Carmen (based on forums). The ship docked a month after Tortugas. They clearly don’t have much method to their madness down at the Melb Int Roro port biosecurity!

We continue to wait…

Have a great long weekend.

Cheers,
Al

Hi Alister,

A bunch of Mustangs have been cleared for shipment today.

Unfortunately, yours, along with all my other customers but one all still require cleaning.

Progress at least.

Kind Regards

Hi everyone
My dealer got an update today! He said that the NSW Mustangs that were on the Tortugas and the Tosca and dropped off at the docks at Melbourne are now at Port Kembla and waiting for cleaning.
Hopefully it won’t be much longer before we start seeing them at the dealerships. I won’t hold my breath waiting though.
