A friend of mine is planning on selling his s650 GT as there was no tuning available(he didn’t wanna go supercharger route) when checked with dealership they’re quoting $35k-$39k for his base GT. Carmax quoted $31k. This cars been an year and loosing so much money on it. What’s surprising is the new s650 GT 2025 isn’t cheaper. They’ve increased the prices on that as well around 6-7k. Are the customers getting ripped off here?

I like the S650 GT a lot, but after really thinking about it, the only "con" my EcoBoost has in comparison is that it doesn't sound like a GT. Other than that, I get better fuel economy and handling for a daily city driver. Right now it doesn't make sense for me to upgrade to what would essentially be a better sounding car and not much else.

I guess this is just me saying I'm no longer looking to buy a GT as soon as I possibly can anymore. Maybe that'll change when/if the sedan materializes at dealerships, but for now I'm content.
Won't be long until you want something faster

Ha don't know how many on here are from Massachusetts? I grew up here, still here I'm stuck. It's different depends on where you live. You couldn't sell your house and move in this state. My home value has more than doubled. Taxes are off the charts. Average 1 bedroom apartment in Massachusetts is 2465.00 a month. Where should I move? What is vehicle insurance expenses. What kind of health insurance? So many questions. I have 20 something kids, they will never be able to afford a house unless i take care of them. Imo, they won't. 💯 won't buy fun cars like we used too. I turn wrenches on there cars so they can keep moving. I survive, definitely not rich. It's upside down, there mindset is a 30000 new car they can hopefully afford without Mom and Dad paying For it. One did, but still lives at home?
I agree 100%. Its not like it used to anymore. 20 year olds cannot even buy a house as their mortgage payments will be in the 3,000s. Insurance has tripled and salaries are not keeping up. So yes, a new 56K Mustang GT Premium are not being bought like it was in 2003 with a Mustang GT costing 27K and House prices in the 130s compared to 400-500s.

OK not flaming....no more Camaro.. no more Challenger dead... s650 a10s breaking into the 11s stock...

I'm really surprised....

Lack of tuning?
Price got too high?
Screens?

What do you all think?

https://carbuzz.com/ford-mustang-mach-e-sales-report-2024/
Like everyone said - it's a combination of a lot of things.

High interest rates.
High insurance costs.
People are having trouble affording basics, and Mustangs are a luxury item.
Modern cars spy on their owners.
High price.
Performance didn't improve measurably.

I think those are the biggest reasons, and several of them are out of Ford's control. The styling isn't bad in my opinion. If the new GT was priced well and significantly better than my old beater in some way I would be interested.

Even since 2015, I've seen a lot fewer Mustangs on the road than I used to. Same goes for Camaros. Quite a few Challengers in my area, though.

I work in the autobody industry, I make 40 an hour been the same for the last 10 years. I am way over qualified at the current pay rate. Unfortunately in Massachusetts that's top of the pay scale. (Depends on where you want to work maybe 5 to 10 dollars an hour more) For a young person interested in the industry will make peanuts, until they require the skill involved. They won't even entertain that. I'm close to 40 years in. I could teach them, but its not happening. My oldest makes the same living at home and gig work, and investing. But that's not enough to buy a home. When us old people are gone who is fixing these cars? Trust me its going to be a problem. They are going to buy a car probably an EV, with a 100000 mile warranty. Again who's fixing those? And insuring them? It's sad, but that's where we are going forward. My kids love my Mustang, but they would never buy one.

They might not even fix them. There might come a point where car companies just produce a bunch of disposable autonomous vehicles everyone uses. When one breaks down it gets recycled and a new one takes it place.

It's because people are woke. too soft to handle 480+ horse power NA. They prefer electric shit lol
Have you ever driven a performance (Tesla) electric car?

In a drag race the electric car is going to win every time, the torque comes on full value and flat from the minute you touch the pedal, or on other words an electric car takes off like someone hit it in the arse with a cattle prod

I did prototype testing in the early 00's for a major metropolitan transit system on a diesel electric hybrid, an electric bus with a small generator

That thing moved.

Passengers did not want to move back from the yellow line... no problemo, tap the right pedal and they would roll down the aisle

an electric car set up right will run circles around a gasoline car until the batteries die

A Tesla with the Plaid option will spin the tires at 80 mph and give you the thrill rode of your life and that is from personal experience.

You need to find a shop that pays book rate. I have friends In a by design understaffed dealership body shop that make 150k-225K per year. This is by doing 90% insurance work and working 60 hours per week. They try to get 120 paid hours a week. These are old school guys who know how to work the system, do phenomenal work and have been in the industry for decades.

I have a Mach-E and it’s really fast. And is fun overall. The only thing you miss with an EV is the pure raw sound of a V8 and the exhaust note. Also Teslas look like bland eggs in terms of shape.

To me, owning both a V8 and an EV…the V8 wins in terms of overall fun factor. Also with a traditional ICE vehicle there are way more choices in terms of style, design, and special purpose vehicles.

To each their own- EVs can be fun and have great tech … but it’s hard to replace a wild sounding V8/V10/V12 IMO.

I will speak for myself here but the sound is actually the most fun part for me. Just rowing through a few gears and hearing the coyote is where its at. When I am commuting to work I don`t want a insane level of acceleration.

Yep most people aren’t flooring their car all of the time lol

What if you took away the Mustang GTs V8 soundtrack and traded it for a purely silent but fast EV powertrain? Would you still buy it?

I think the vast majority of people buying EVs probably never had V8 type performance cars.

Most people who buy EVs don’t care about raw performance or the sound of the car lol. They want to go from point A to B.

Tesla or EV = Toyota Camry.
