When the Dark Horse came out- you were all running around here ...

Shelbys are for boomers!
Who cares about a dead guy!
Time to move the brand forward!
and so on.....

But now your all getting excited about a GT500???

and for the person who said we all ready can put a supercharger on a Dark Horse..... 3 letters for you...

DCT

I love the 10 speed auto- but the DCT is whole different transmission.... (not thinking drag racing)
That being said I like my manual transmissions still lol

I’m glad you mentioned the DCT. I‘ve been meaning to ask: OK, so what? There must be a big deal but I can’t honestly figure out why it’s so much better than the A10 for non-boosted guys. The A10 has three more speeds worth of torque multiplication and the ’24 up units are smooth as can be. Put ‘em in the right drive move and nothing could shift any faster. Both have paddles if you like to use those but they’ll both be left to shift on their own most of the time.

I know what the DCT is and understand it‘s principles but I don’t understand the hysteria. If it’s power handling ability well, OK but I thought the A10 was good up to around 1,000 hp.

Help me understand, but please skip the old “you have to drive one to get it“ stuff. A well-functioning A10 has always seemed quite nice to me.

I always thought the special transmission the DH needed was that DCT because it was awesome and Mustangs standard should have the Tremec manual and the A10

I hate to be that guy.....but you need to drive one to understand lol

No but really....they really do shift faster then the A10.....but probably the biggest difference is the paddle shifters.....when you shift with the paddle shifters it feels like the car shifts before your done pushing the paddle- it really is instantaneous .....

Ford should work on a OEM sequential for the gear grabber crowd.

whipple’s updated trans tuning has 10R80 paddles DCT fast.. I know that’s hard to believe, must’ve removed 5ms delays or something

Part of my proof is, I've only had two tickets my whole life. One was a parking ticket, and the other for wasting fuel driving at 62 in a 55 mph zone (circa early 70s).

Nice because as a former A10 owner - I loved that transmission in drag mode but the paddles were worthless with stock set up.....

Let me see if I get this correctly. On tap now, are upwards of 850 HP for a Whipple-ized GT or Dark Horse out of the lowly 5.0L. Now Ford, answering the call of competition and public alike (let's not forget the car mags too!), is upping the displacement to 5.2L, and punching out another 200 or so horse power. This begs the question... Why?
It's not really fair to compare the Predator 5.2 to a Coyote with a Whipple on it. Sure, the power output might be similar but one is a much more solid powerplant and makes more power on pump gas, while being 100% OEM.

I’m glad you mentioned the DCT. I‘ve been meaning to ask: OK, so what? There must be a big deal but I can’t honestly figure out why it’s so much better than the A10 for non-boosted guys.
The DCT holds more power, doesn't overheat on the road course, plus you get to tell people "It's not an automatic!"

How the AF is more power ever a bad thing?

@Alan Applegate, please know that I’m answering generally and not personally as I do enjoy your insights... That said, do we all need to GET OFF YOUR LAWN too?

Why? BFYTW is the only answer to this question. Again, answering generally, not to you personally in this context.

But still.

But.. before you criticize me for speaking the obvious, ask yourself if you're one of those?
‘Self, am I one of those guys?’
The overwhelming majority of the voices say no.

I've had one.....running a red light when I was 16 because my sister's hand-me-down 1964 Corvair wouldn't stop in time after repeatedly pumping the brakes like a mad man.

They are NOT ditching the supercharger, so factor a higher price point, and ramp up starts EOY for it in 26

I was hoping they'd eventually put the DCT in the Dark Horse so I could figure out a way to put one in mine :D

For strictly daily driving purposes, are there any advantages a DCT has over today's automatics (and dare I say CVTs)?

Take this but replace the words POWERFUL ENGINE with the words FASTER SHIFTING

I would buy one if they did. It would fit with their DH Motorsports thing they got going too.

other then quicker shifting they’re almost even nowadays. But I always believed if Hyundai and Volkswagen can drop a DCT in their regular cars then no performance car has that excuse now.
