I've watched this thread as it has evolved over the past few days. Read most of the comments etc. etc. My guess is whoever had this car was not a true Mustang enthusiast or passionate car person (1st owner). They may have thought they were. My first thought was someone on the younger side. I'm now second guessing that thought due to the type or plaque applied (Referring to 502 HP).
First thing I would do is remove all of the cheesy claimed HP plaques. These plaques scream 1980's or earlier style. Makes me think the previous owner was not that young.
It's confirmed the air filters have been changed.
My guess is the carbon traps have been removed.
Previous owner watched some of the many YouTube videos and came up with the HP number by some claimed gains they saw.
Claimed Air filter gain + claimed carbon trap gain = 502 HP.
Cosmetic mods done are what they are.
Previous owner went online and found a plaque engraving company and filled up the max available room on the plaque with mumble jumble. Received and applied said plaques.
Also, I don't know of any true Mustang enthusiast that refers to the Coyote engine as a MOD 5.0. as seen onTV oops meant to say the window sticker. Remember back at the beginning of this thread when everybody including myself was thinking MOD was modification abbreviated. It was not until an astute forum member pointed out the way the 5.0 reads on the window sticker.
Not a chance in you know where this car has ever been on a DYNO. Car manufactures post crank HP. People who put their cars on a dyno post wheel HP numbers. This car is not putting down 502 WHP either way.
To the OP. All of what I've said above relates to the discussions that ensued from your post. I would not mention any of your concerns about the car with any Ford Service personnel. Absolutely, no need to open this line of inquiry. There is nothing good that will come from this. Maybe nothing bad either. No positives, only potential negatives.
OP - Drive the car, service the car. I see no need to dig up the pasts on a car that is not that old with very minor entry level DIY modifications.
One last comment - Zero chance this car has long tube headers.
Oh have I digressed.......
