Still having problems with booming noise, apparently coming from Active Noise Cancellation equipment. Dealer is going to disconnect the ANC microphones on 7 January. Anybody have a better idea/fix for this problem? It's a GT convertible, so there is no connector under the headliner (no headliner).

In the above there is talk about using forscan to disable it. That's for the S550, but the 650 should be the same?

Here's info from the spreadsheet in the forscan forum on this site. It does look like you can tell the car there are no mics, and also just turn of Software ANC.

Have you tried this?

(The dealer should be able to do this too, without a physical disconnect)

Dealer doesn't have Forscan. I've suggested they either replace the ANC equipment or disconnect the microphones. They are concerned Ford wouldn't cover the cost of replacing the ANC equipment if that didn’t fix the problem. They don't think Ford will cover the cost of disconnecting the microphones either, but agreed to do it. I could do it myself, but don't want to let them off the hook until this is fixed.

GT’s do not have ANC. They have the physical sound tube under the hood. ANC is for the Ecoboost.

My car is going in again next month for the body work. I’m going to bring this up and mention that open ticket number you have. At the end of the day, Ford should be troubleshooting this to find a fix. Unplugging or disabling any ANC should be part of troubleshooting.

Unless they added ANC to the V8 S650‘s (which I highly doubt as it’s never been brought up) you have nothing to bring up. Those forscan codes shown in the other post are for the Ecoboost.

By the way troubleshooting is it locate and find a “trouble”, not a supposed feature. As ANC and the sound tube were/are considered features Ford isn’t going to do anything. That’s what the foru are for. 👍

Dealer has verified that my GT has ANC. A feature that isn't working properly is trouble.

The dealer uses a different tool and interface, I think it’s IDS. AND YES, they very much can disable ANC, this is a fairly common request for ecoboost trucks.

it’s not that great like a set of noise cancelling headphones but it’d does tamp down small, annoying noises.
If for no other reason they should do this as a troubleshooting method.

Even if there is no ANC there is absolutely something wrong. It literally sounds like a bass note from a subwoofer.

I stand corrected on the S650. Post #13.

Dealer attempted to disconnect the ANC microphones today, but found the ones that were supposed to be in the rear speaker compartments had not been installed. The connectors were there, but no microphones. The only microphone installed was in the map light console. Checking to see if disconnecting that one makes a difference.

Interesting that it’s missing. I wonder if there is any chance the issue could be related to them being missing like it’s over compensating from just the front.
My cars in the shop for body work right now going to call them this week and have them look at the noise. I’m not at all confident they will care to even look at it. They gave me the car back with the brake peddle noise last time.

Disconnecting the map light compartment microphone had no effect. Now I'm wondering if the problem stems from the missing microphones in the rear seat speaker compartments.

Are they able to confirm the convertibles are supposed to have those? It definitely seems like it could be a possible issue.

Maybe one of the techs on here can confirm they should be there.
