Hey guys!

I have a 2024 GT with Performance Pack and AVE. Can anyone tell me if power output (hp, tq) is the same in Quiet, Normal, Sport and Track modes? Or does more exhaust constriction in the quieter modes stifle the output?

I like to burble thru the suburbs in track mode, but giving her the beans in track mode feels a little too attention-whorish for my taste, at least around town :-)

Thanks!

When you go WOT in quiet it kicks back to open, you’ll notice when.

Oh interesting, I had no idea it did that.

Not sure of HP numbers but it sure sounds good for stock. Was real interested in getting the Borla Sport Catback but it is pricey. Miss the days of spending a couple hundred bucks and getting the Flowmasters.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm a new Mustang owner. What do you mean by wide open throttle and quiet mode? I thought wide open throttle was only when the exhaust is in track mode when all the valves are open and that's where you get the additional 6 hp. Or do you also have to select the drive mode to track as well? Or is it always getting that additional 6 horsepower regardless what drive mode and exhaust mode you are in with AVE? Say you are in normal mode but select the exhaust as track... Please educate me lol

Whatever mode you’re in, all of them, go wide open and exhaust goes to full open, you’ll definitely hear the difference when they kick.

If they stayed shut you’d blow the valves out on high load, learned from my friends gt350/ 500s all the same with active

Wide open throttle is just another way of saying pedal to the metal, foot to the floor, happy on the loud pedal, or just flooring it.

quiet mode works by forcing the gas to move around the muffler in a more restricted way to cancel out noises the car is making thus making it quieter, thats why AVE in track mode gets that extra 6hp, it makes the exhaust basically straight-pipe.

Agree about the Flows but I’ll call and raise you.

I miss the days of spending $39.95 on a pair of Cherry Bombs from either J.C. Whitney or Honest Charley. Guaranteed 50 hp increase with no CELs!

If you look around YouTube, you'll come across a vid showing actual HP and Tq numbers with each of the settings.

What do you mean by WOT? like press down on the accelerator pedal? So you'll get the extra 6 hp even in quiet mode, the exhaust mode doesn't have to be in track to get the hp increase?

That’s not how HP works really.

the 6hp differential may be only through a very small rpm window, say north of 7k rpm’s

so when you have the pedal all the way to the floor and the engine is a peak rpm … that’s you 6hp.. where there is just a hair less restriction than the non active muffler

Not sure if this is just the placebo effect of loud = fast. But I do notice that Sport/Track/Drag modes do feel like the car gets up and goes a hair quicker than Normal mode. And Normal mode with quiet exhaust feels a touch more sluggish in the mid range before the valve opens up all the way. But that's just by the seat of my pants your mileage may vary .

WOT happens when the gas pedal is pushed to the floor. It's about the throttle plate, in the air intake system, being fully open. WOT makes the exhaust valve open too.

With all of the Ford guys who linger here, I would expect (ask?) one of them would (to) share the algorithm of how and when the valve is activated?

Then there is the rather complex engineering which goes into designing an exhaust system. It is more than just an oval or round-shaped thingy hanging under a modern vehicle. In fact, some systems are design to take advantage of the velocity of the exhaust gasses to reroute them into a less restrictive path. We can thank Nicola Tesla for some of that specific science.
