I have had a 2024 GT Perf/Pack and now a Dark Horse/HP.

Both with wireless charging, I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the charger nearly cooks this phone to death, 15 minutes if charging and the phone is unusable!

NOT WORTH IT!!!

P.S.
Heard whispers they're not even being put in the 25's

Heats my Galaxy S22 Ultra too in my 24' GT! Terrible charging system! If I had a place to mount a aftermarket wireless charger in the car like I did in my 2019 GT I would sure do it. But that is the price you pay when you get a car with the fancy infotainment screen.

Like others it heats up my Iphone, not to unusable heat but basically holds a charge/VERY SLIGHTLY charges my phone, while running carplay/apps. I understand why they are removing it from the newer models, sad they couldnt figure it out tho.

The video is helpful even if you don’t like the factory charger. From what I understand, there are a few issues that potentially cause the low charging / excessive heat.

1) improper phone position / alignment on the charger element.
2) if using a case, too long a distance between the phone and charging element.

When one or both are true, the charger is going to work harder and produce more heat and the efficiency of the charge is lower. The phone also gets proportionally hotter the lower the charge rate due to the poor positioning.

There’s a thick rubber cover over top of the car charger and if your phone is in a case, this is not ideal.

I think if I was going to do something for the wireless charging, I’d buy a fast Qi2 charger and wire it in, replacing the factory piece. The video shows several possible connection points; you could just get a usb-c to 12v adapter for simplicity and wire it in under the console. I’d disconnect the factory charger and likely make a platform cut out for the qi2 puck. That should make wireless phone charging great again.

I have a magsafe on my phone case & also phone has been positioned multiple spots to no luck. I have had the car almost a year so I have tried multiple things. I have tried it without a phone case too. Evidently, if Ford is not putting the charger in the 2025's, as mentioned above, they must know there is an issue. My charger just maintains my current battery level and that's just about it.

like others, my wireless charger just heats up the phone, barely charging it, until the phone decides to protect itself and deactivate wireless charging until it cools off

S23Ultra here.. Yuuup wireless charger is complete garbage ! Even with no case on , it doesn't work. Phone just gets hot , no charge added. So I find myself trying NOT to put my phone where the car has a spot designed specifically for your phone !? WTF FORD !!

I use a wireless charger stand every night (have for years now) , and even with a huge quadlock pc attached to the back of my phone case , the thing will charge just fine.

So , it really has nothing to do with "figuring it out". The technology has been well established , and works VERY good. FORD obviously just decided to buy the cheapest piece of garbage hardware they could find.

This doesn't leave me feeling good about the longevity of these screens.

I’m probably going to pull the factory wireless charger, and wire in a qi2 fast charger and fit my phones with a mag safe case. I don’t think the factory charger is up to the task and I agree that is almost certainly why the ’25’s don’t have it.

Same issues here with our wireless charger as said above.
How much does the kit shown above cost ? $500 !! Yikes
I'm so used to plugging in my phone I think I'll just stick with that time tested method.

If you do pull your factory charger & replace it with something else, please post pictures or tell me what you replaced it with. I would possibly like to replace mine.

Is there a way to de-activate the wireless charger? I would still like to use the spot to hold my phone but just not cook it

I guess I am the only one that is good with the charge. I haven't had any issues. iphone 16.

No you're not the only one. I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max in a Magsafe case and it charges fine without getting hot.
