More love to the ecoboost. I have had 5 Mustangs counting this one, only one being a V8.

1965: straight 6, 3 spd
1974: V6, 4 spd
2017: V6, auto
2019: V8, 6 spd
2024: EB 4, A10

While the V8 was fun, it felt ponderous to me. Sound was great, but other than that, I could take it or leave it. The 2024 EB is by far the bast handling car on the street of all of them. Well balanced and powerful enough for my needs. I will never track it, so the extra power and expense (including much worse fuel mileage) of the V8 was not worth it to me.

If only it sounded like a sports car….Would have considered it… have a listen in the video below.

Where as the V8 sound is a source of joy every time it starts.

Not my first Mustang. I ordered one back in 1966! Maroon Coupe, 289, 4-speed. After that, "life happened", as you said.
I live in an HOA, so the active valve exhaust plays an important role. "Quiet" when in the HOA. "Normal" everywhere else. There's not much of a difference between "Normal", "Sport", and "Track". However, I'm still in the break-in period - only 200 miles so far.
I also live in a HOA neighborhood but haven’t had any complaints about the sound of the exhaust. In fact the neighbor directly across the street said to my wife that he likes the sound. Says it sounds mean!

I've had plenty of mussel cars in my life time so having a V-8 meant nothing to me. I'll leave that to the gearheads. I have wanted a Mustang since they were introduced, but life got in the way.

Now at 76 years old, I finally got one. It was an amusing purchase. I stopped the finance manager about two words into his extended warranty pitch. I told him I'd be very lucky to out live the factory warranty. I bought this car as my last car having just recovered from major cancer surgery. I wanted some top down fun, and the EB most definitely will provide that.
Ahh you at 76 and @DCS at 77 are just a couple of young fellas enjoying life. Here's to hoping both of you have many happy miles, smiles and years ahead piloting your Mustangs:)

Just curious, how much did insurance cost change going from a GT to an EcoBoost? (No need for exact numbers, a rough estimate would be more than sufficient, please and thank you!)
As near as I can remember, it was about the same. But... keep in mind that they are 5 years apart in timing, so I don't think it is a good comparison.

For daily driving, that's really what it comes down to: do you want the sound of a V8? My love is for motorcycles and top-down driving. I want the sound of wind.

Looking at the Forum (and I am not shocked) but there seems to be very little for us with the Ecoboost Mustang.
True-we don’t even have a real section in the forum

I have a lot of love for the Ecoboost Mustang (this is coming from a guy that owns several V8 powered Mustangs). The ’24 EB Mustang is an excellent value for the level of performance it has. My 100a HPP car was 35k OTD after rebates and X-Plan discount. It goes 0-60 in under 5 seconds, runs 13s, pulls almost 1g on a skid pad, gets good MPG, and its RWD. For my daily commute it’s plenty quick and checks most of the boxes. The only thing missing is a manual transmission.

Historically; with exception of the ’84-’86 SVO any none V8 Mustangs were typically looked upon as a non-performance oriented anemic econobox. I hope that the 2015+ Ecoboost Mustang will eventually change that image.

I 🄰 the EcoBoost, as frequently as I joke about it.
For what it's worth, I loved my 2022 EcoBoost. It had the rare 6 speed manual. When I bought it almost 2 years ago, it was special ordered during Covid and when it was delivered the person who ordered it did not want it. So I paid a bit over sticker as it was the only one in Phoenix AZ area at the time. I believe there were three more manuals that came in to the Phoenix area afterward that were available for sale up until the factory stopped producing them. I got rid of it because it was rear ended. So I ended up getting a 2024 GT because of the manual option. The Ecoboost definitely felt more nimble.

Gt guy here but after taking a ride in my friends 20 pp tuned with full exhaust and down pipe, it was impressive. I did not expect it to move like that. I think the Eco mustangs got the short end of the stick with the my24. Too much missing. No hood vent, no strakes on the pp version if I'm correct. Some other things that just don't make sense. The s550 other than the badging you couldn't tell.

(Former V8 owner, driven all the new American V8s ~30K miles each) the Ecoboost is a great "sporty daily". Stylish, decent MPGs, fast enough for normal traffic.

To car enthusiasts, it's definitely a "secretary's car" rather than a true "performance car". The lack of transmission control/paddle shifters (can't even see what gear you're in!) and the restrictive/neutered ESC all show Ford was targeting a different demographic with the Ecoboost. They expect Ecoboost drivers to be lucky high schoolers/college kids and Becky who just wants to look cute going to the mall, while enthusiasts and hardcore track guys go GT/DH.

I'm A-OK with that, and literally cross-shopped this with the new Camrys. The Ecoboost was more performance and style for thousands cheaper.

Performance-wise, the Ecoboost is great bang for the buck. In fact, comparing torque curves shows the Ecoboost is not far off the V8 on the low-end since the V8 lacks low-end torque. If you're mostly driving around town, you may not feel a dramatic performance difference. From testing it seems GT is consistently 0.5sec faster in 0-60, not as big of a gap as some may expect. If you're into driving twisty mountain roads, the Ecoboost is both more nimble and doesn't lose as much power with elevation, so again, not as bad as people think.

It definitely doesn't have V8 noise, but the S650 Ecoboosts do sound better than the S550 ones.

Ultimately I'd say it's a great for what it is--not a hardcore sports car but a "fun" daily. What one makes more sense for you depends on your use case and what you want from a car.

Much love for the Eco, more HP and 0-60 would smoke the 88 GT I had.

For me, I'm gettn up there in years and I want one final, loud, gas gulping,V8 powered stang
Ditto JAM, time for fun after 4 kids, school etc....me time and 5.0, AE, PP, manual and it is fun time!

Interesting. Do the new EcoBoosts have problems with drone? (I think I read about that either in these forums or one of the magazine websites...)

Oh, and how were the Camrys?

The 315 HP of the Ecoboost would be more than enough for 95% of my driven miles each year. I use my car as a daily driver, not for truck days.

In one of my previous cars with similar horsepower, I used a Horsepower gauge during several days. Most of the time with spirited driving I was using up to 180-200 hp. During hard acceleration around 240-250. To be able to use over 300 hp I had to really redline and unnecessarily abuse the car. It was fun though.
