I've been meaning to shoot this video for some time.
(Excuse the messy study!)

This takes a look at the Flow Designs Slimline Number Plate Bracket.

Nice video 👍
These brackets do look like good quality items. I ordered two slimline brackets, plinth, and Kingpin covers for mine today.
Also, my SVE jack pads from LMR rocked up today. Yay, slowly things are coming together.

For those looking to purchase, I have had discussions with Flow designs about what's needed on the rear and basically you could use a bracket on the rear, but it may not be necessary.

I understand most dealers will use the blue circled holes to mount a plate to the rear.
These holes line up with almost all Australian plates.

The size of your plate will affect your decision to use a backing bracket or not in the rear.

If you have a smaller 3-4 character plate, the blue mounting holes are suitable and there is not much benefit also adding a backing bracket in this scenario, but you could still use one if you like.

If you have a larger/longer plate you have a few options.
You could mount using the blue holes, with our without a bracket.
Or,
You could mount a bracket to the circled yellow spots and then mount your plate in this location.

Hope this helps.

Those DH exhaust tips look a lot better than the baked beans cans we get on the GT. Another thing to add to the potential mods list!

It specifically mentions the Dark Horse, and not just S650.
Begs the question: is that part of the bumper different to a GT?
Very good question, one that I asked within hours of it going on sale. To the company's credit, they replied to me within 30min of the question, at 9pm.

"The Dark Horse plinth will only fit the Dark Horse unfortunately.

We are yet to work on a GT – but we can already tell that it is significantly different.

We will explore developing a plinth for it I due course"

If we haven’t come up with a solution by the time you are about to accept delivery of the car
reach out to us again and we can see if we can help."

Well, some muppet here has only just discovered that the cheapo plastic King Pin bracket for his rear plate does not accommodate his plate frame.

Because the Flow Designs bracket does not protrude beyond the slimline plate's dimensions, there is no problem fitting a frame around the plate when mounted to a FD bracket.

AND!
I've just discovered FD have an angled spacer kit.
I don't recall seeing this when I bought the first FD bracket 13 months ago (which has gone up $10 since then, BTW).

If anyone watched my video (posted above), I commented how the standard supplied flat spacers would only touch the bumper on the inside edge of the spacers.
These angles spacers should accommodate the front bumper's bend better.

Both ordered!

I have the angled spacer, seeing those pics, it should account for the central crease.

Question I have though, how do I approach this subject with the dealer. Do I insist that I'm present to install the plates? Do I ask them to not install the plates? Do I just leave it with them to sort it out..........actually I already know the answer to that one.

Haha, I've been having the exact same thoughts DFB. Mine are on their way to me and my car is who knows where, but I'm already thinking do I trust them to install this $400 set of brackets? Probably not....

With my S550 and now S650, I have never really put so much thought into number plates. The main reason is that crease line that means a number plate is always going to look wrong if it's been done slap happy.

Hi mate.. as I have purchased only one plate holder for the front, I'm going to ask dealer to install plate on back, and no plate on front..
The back already has attach points..they can't stuff that one up..
I've got all the spacers, and have a mate who is going to help me install the front slimline one.. don't trust them with that one

I'll be handing over the brackets and plates when they're ready to actually fit, and I will be in attendance. I want to be able to talk directly with the guy who is actually doing the work.

I did take my plates and FD bracket into the dealership when I visited a few weeks ago to see the GT they have in their showroom. The sales guy said "one of our customers has asked we double-side tape the plates on so he can fit them himself at home... We are not supposed to do that".
Which is fair enough. The plates needs to be properly affixed to the vehicle.

I'm also going to be drilling them about pre-delivery cleaning.
Do they use a foam cannon etc?
Wouldn't want scratches and marring before it leaves the dealership!

Gee we are all in the same boat my car will arrive at the dealer on the 6 September I will take my brackets over to them then and ask them to install them, I dont have my custom plates yet, I will have to swap plates later i guess just not sure how this effects the leasing when maintenance and fuel is based on the plate. Better go order the flow wedge spacers now

Agreed regarding the wash. Here's what one looks like pre-wash. Took these at my dealer a few weeks ago. They weren't washing them on site, they were putting trade plates one and driving them somewhere local. I have some shots of panel gaps too, but this isn't the thread for that.
