I had pretty much the same problem. It cured itself at around 1500 miles. Working fine now.

Hi ...quick question...on the 2024 GT...how do you know exactly what gear the car is on without touching the paddle shifters if it's not showing on the dash like on the S 550?

I checked the thread on TSBs, recalls and all that. Didn't see anything.

You noted the mileage. The car should have learned your driving style and habits by now.

Yes, I'd check the fluid next. Autos have come from the factory a quart/liter or more down.

You could check yourself or head to the dealer. Much as I don't like leaving a vehicle at a dealer, if the fluid is found low, it's under warranty and involving something complicated (not adding fluid, but the trans). If they determine it isn't low, they could possibly re-flash the PCM or other module to see if the situation improves.

Out of the box, you can't. But there is a FORScan mod you can do that will result in the gear indicator being present at all times.

As you note, as I continued adding kms it seems to have sorted itself out. Now on a grade it just unlocks the torque converter and powers up the hill. Obviously part of the tranny learning curve.

Is this in Normal Mode?? I do remember on my S550 in Normal Mode, it skipped gears (1-3, 4-6, 7, 8 etc up to 10th gear) from leaving from a complete stop. Maybe it’s looking at your speed plus accelerator pressure as you reach the hill incline. Should not be going from 10-9 and back to 10.
I can’t really say.
All I do is drive my Mustang & let it shift when it wants to shift.
In Colorado, we have a lot of mountain driving & some trips. You’ll never hit nine or 10th gear. if you do, you won’t stay there very long.
Since I can’t tell what gear I’m in, it’s something I don’t worry about.

Fair enough and yes, have been there before and know about the hills and driving conditions aren’t always favorable. Be safe and I agree, let it shift when it shifts.
