Fwiw, man, that's a beautiful car minus the damage. Awful shame. I'm so sorry this happened to your pony. I'd be pissed, too.

The Dealer files a claim against the trucking company

The trucking company (Driver) signs for each car, he/she inspects it before they are allowed to load it on the trailer, no driver will take a damaged car and I mean the slightest imperfection because they don't want to be blamed for the shipping damage.

Unfortunately cars are damaged in shipping all the time.

One dealership I know of paid their lot staff a commission on any damage they found on a car when it was inspected as it was taken off the truck.

One of my friends made good money on that in the late 80's early 90's at a Buick Plymouth Hummer dealership. The Truck Drivers hated him.

It is going to be up to you if you can accept that someone popped the car's cherry,

The dealer is in the business of selling cars, if you don't want it, they will sell it to someone else before you get home.

This is why you don't fall in love with something that can't love you back BTW

I would insist on seeing the internal work order or the appraisal from their body shop showing all the damage itemized, and pictures of every damaged part and area.

I'd also want to see every damaged part.

Personally I would not accept any car that had shipping damage that was repaired, and if you have ever worked in a dealer body shop you'd know why.

Thereā€™s shipping damage and then thereā€™s real shipping damage. OPā€™s Mustang looks to be cosmetically affected. Iā€™ve seen pictures of Raptors that were driven off the side of the ramps, or had the cab crushed. Raptors are allocation trucks, like the Dark Horse, so you canā€™t just roll over to the next dealer and find one and the Lord has truly smile upon you if you land one with no moonroof... So when someone waits 8+ months for a build, only to have it delivered and have some unwashed peasant screw it up getting off the delivery truck .. yeah, that stings.

Normally, Iā€™m the forum doomsayer but I think this is just cosmetic. Agree though, get a full description of needed repairs, etc.

Skye thank you for the kind words. That is a thousand percent what I'm worried about. Receiving a brand new car, even at a discount, with a damaged history. The general manager at the dealership seems pretty one-sided but the sales manager has been my point of contact since my salesperson left. And he is a car guy and I feel like is on my side. Unless you're really a car guy or gal, this may not hit home. But this car was supposed to go in the garage. Until I had time to polish it, ceramic coat it. And then it wasn't ever going to see rain. Now it's sitting on the lot in the Sun for I don't know how long. Will they fire that thing up in track mode and rev the piss out of it in the body shop? Probably. Will it come back with a couple millimeters of the rear tires burned off? Maybe. These are the things a guy thinks about when his unicorn car sits on the car lot damaged. It's the last of the 2024s. I can't afford a 2025. And I can't go buy another one just like it on the lot anywhere. Where will it go and whose hands will it be in? There will be an insurance claim involved. It was damaged as they drug the front end off of the transport trailer.
The car should still be in transport mode, this disables drive mode changes, limits power, revs, max speed etc.
Worth a check that itā€™s still in that mode, custom orders should stay in that mode until sold. Dealer stock can vary. It was supposed to require plug in to dealer computer and an authorisation code from Ford to unlock it. But there is a sequence of key / pedal presses to unlock it the same as a fiesta!

I'm starting to get a little better feel that at least the management at my dealership are trying to take care of the car. Hopefully they have a good handle on their guys in the shop and on the lot crew. I'm about an hour east of Cincinnati Ohio. Is there anybody within maybe an hour of Cincinnati that has a dark horse on the ground or in the air? That I might be able to come feel around a little bit with you just to see how all of the brake cooling ducts and other aero is fitted under the car. It appears that a lot of the fiberish parts under the car were either ripped and discarded or broke clean off. So I would just like to see one complete and maybe take a couple pictures so I know what I should be looking for if and when it ever returns. The dealership did the PDI inspection to assess the damage before sending it to the shop but I haven't been down since. Thanks to everyone for all the support. Honestly I've been trying to talk myself out of this car for the last 6 months. Now that I'm ready for it this happens.

I agree with Smurf, Matt and the others who posted about it looking like repairable cosmetics. Reassure yourself that is the case, and the dealership is making an all hands on deck effort to restore it 110%. I also agree there likely will be no issue of "diminished value" due to the damage happening so early in the cars history. There again; reassure yourself that is the actual case.

Best of luck getting things sorted! šŸ‘

... For Oasis, someone with experience could provide insight on that.
OASIS does not record accident history. the only notable things recorded is all warranty work and warranty status (like if its a salvage title)

this damage will 100% fall onto the driver for causing it. the dealer has no reason not to fix this, as none of it is going to come out of their pocket, unless for some reason the person checking in those vehicles told the driver not to code it. i expect there to be at least an 03-04-6 (front bumper, dent with paint damage, major/missing) among many other codes. it honestly sounds like that transport driver was inexperienced or did not care, which i can assure you is not the norm. at my work, i deal with 3 different transport companies, one of which has a couple companies they contract work out to, totaling about 16 drivers that i have met at least once. none of them would've done that damage

Not sure if the brake ducked work is the same as the PP. If it is you can see how it is routed.

I would feel pretty deflated too. The OP shouldn't have to be spending his time dealing with this situation and fixing a new car that was damaged due to potentially ignorant or negligent conduct. He's supposed to be enjoying it (factory issues is one thing but mishandling is another). After all is said and done, it's still going to be a mental bother methinks.

Sorry to see you in that situation, however, you are already one up on the dealer. They took ownership of the damage. These cars are like legos, almost every cosmetic part on the car can be replaced. No, mentally it wont be a new car, but you will get an awesome deal, a new paint job, and any part that is damaged, will be replaced. And if you find something wrong later, you can always return to get it fixed. Or, you can, get a great price, take the car, not drive it and sale it. That is a beautiful car and the dark horse is a hard to get car. Be patient with the dealer so they will continue to bend over backwards to make it right.

@Ewags81 ..... you have received a enormous amount of heart felt solid advice from Mustang brothers on this forum who genuinely care. I lean towards what @Timry2 has said. Unless your dealer has no concern for their reputation and zero pride they will be mortified by this event. Like @Timry2 has stated (to paraphrase) I bet the dealer will, as a matter of pride, do whatever it takes to make your car at LEAST as good as new. The dark Horse is a "flagship" model for Mustang and the dealer. Imagine how the dealer must have felt - probably like fainting! The dealer was probably expecting you to go ballistic - when you gave them a chance to "make it right" I think you were brilliant. In such circumstances who wouldn't do anything possible to redeem themselves. Once your vehicle has been fixed I bet you will forget about it in 10 minutes. Keep the faith and continue to be patient .... I think you will absolutely win this one.
